David, you are the best instructor I have found for this grave saddle arrangement. I have already watched 4 others and then I found you. Awesome, clear, and easy to follow instructions. I love your beautiful design.. I had my brother and sister pass within a week of each other. I wanted to honor them both. This is something I can do . Thank you for this tutorial.

Wow you make it look so fun! I’ve alway wished I had the skill to make floral arrangements, but I definitely don’t! But You make me wanna try now!!! I would love to make saddles for my recently passed brother and our dads grave. But with rustic feel, pines, sticks, greens, winter accents, etc etc. I know you said to cut items different lengths, which I understand, but, when shopping for items, what “original” length should be bought? How many different length/styles also? You had skinny forsythia, full short hydrangea, a ball shape, etc. not sure if I’m making sense. Sorry. I just don’t want to buy what I like visually, but then they don’t work well together.
@DavidChristophers2 жыл бұрын
There’s not really a formula on the sizes to buy to mix and match. You can always cut them down or make the stems longer by wiring them on a wooden pick. Hope this helps. Happy creating. 😄

I need to learn how to do one for an urn style (cone) on my son's flat style grave marker. He passed as a baby so some smaller florals? How about a Christmas tree for him?
@wendymonkelien-brown5792 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry for your loss! I do vases/urns frequently since I drop off 20/30 per year. There are 2 children that get memorials, & I normally use bright colors, sometimes make little "shepherds hooks" for mini windchimes, & normally include a brightly colored pinwheels. Alot of what he is saying here is the same, but just in a smaller scale. Hope this helps!

What is advantage of leather greens vs silk? Silk flowers will fade so do you have an alternative? I am designing a base of greens with four seasonal toppers that can be switched out. I would like any expert suggestions. I know each topper will need freshening annually but I’d like to keep that at a minimum. Thanks so much. Your tutorial is perfect.
@DavidChristophers4 жыл бұрын
Mainecoonlady Thanks for the question. Both are made of a plastic substance, so they will all fade in direct sunlight and in the elements over time. Leather leaf is fairly inexpensive, which is good, but it fades at about the same rate as other silk pieces. You can spray your flowers with clear acrylic spray paint to make them last longer in the weather. Hope this helped.

thank you so much. Any suggestions on making sure the "saddle" stays secured to the top of the headstone?
@DavidChristophers2 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome. When you place it on the headstone, the saddle base bends, and you bend it towards the headstone to secure it on.

where can I purchase these dixon pins that you refer to
@DavidChristophers Жыл бұрын
We buy ours in very large bulk quantities. Most craft stores carry them. If you place an order with us for stems, we could ship some to you. Otherwise, I am concerned the shipping would cost more than the pins themselves. You can reach out to us at shop@davidchristophers.com if you have further questions. :)

That would last 5 minutes in a cemetery here in Cleveland. Seriously, ours has a sign upon entry warning that guns are prohibited...so many were being robbed at gun point at the gravesites. Hope the criminals obeyed the signs. Lots of the robberies were over 20 years ago and haven’t heard much lately, so maybe they did! Would be lovely on a large banquet table!

I wish it was just metro areas. My parent's grave is in a rural cemetery that you have to drive up in to see what's there. We have had a LARGE real pot of flowers (TWO times) & even a young BUSH dug up! I now take the artificials out whenever, & the live plants go out max the day before & are picked up late Memorial Day or the next morning!

Would love to see those POS try it here in Virginia ,we are an open carry state and if you try to rob someone in a cemetery, you might end up "moving in" as a "permanent resident".

Please stop using any kind of foams unless it's all natural. They're made from microplastics, and just like "forever chemicals," microplastics are found in most of human's bloodstream on this planet. I don't know why all these harmful chemicals are not banned ever. I mean I do, it's the money!
@DavidChristophers Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, there's not a lot of alternatives to some types of foam. We aren't aware of any natural alternatives to the spray bars like seen in this video. I know most people have foam insulation in their homes, but I believe there's beginning to be some other alternatives for that. I was surprised to recently learn that 60% of clothing is made up of microplastics. And our cell phones and computers have them, as well. I believe we would have to completely live off the grid to eliminate most from our every day life, sadly. Thanks for the comment. Take care!
