you are my savior. I wish all professors taught in such a clear way and had the skill to come down to the student's level

Thank you for the lecture, may I ask a question, at 5:07, why S_x=Q_x? If this follows from the force balance on the cube, then should we also take the effect of P_x R_x into account?

Hello, thank you very much for posting these videos, they are a great explanation, approach and resource! I do have a question for you and/or the community, at 7:31 (as you are starting to balance the moments) you multiply Tau_yx by dx, is that so that you can convert Tau_yx (a stress) back to a force to then multiply by the distance to the center (dy/2)? Thanks!

hydrostatic stress would occur under water if water is static. if the water is flowing (like in the sea) there will be shear stress on the cube, no?

You should explain simple a bit more regarding free body diagram ....how you just plotted equation of differential or integral ( maths model ) for freebody ? you should provide us more Arthematics or Algebraic background while explaining advance version of any Equation ( the foundation of knowledge ) .
@DavidDyeIC6 жыл бұрын
This course runs on from a first year course where free body diagrams are discussed, but really for this, you only need what is taught in (UK) high school about equilibrium.

Nice explanation of stress tensor. But you have started with a 2D model of a stress tensor. Should have stick to it. IMHO
