I thought I was good at guitar because I've spent over a decade learning it and practicing at it in order to become proficient (started with acoustic for a solid 5 years, then electric for 3, and in the last 2 or so I've gotten a proper classical one), but this video, and these songs... it makes me want to truly delve back into learning it and honing my skills until I can truly call myself a master player of the instrument. Thank you immensely for this video, I believe it may have been the push I needed in order to truly rekindle my love and passion for this specific part of my life.

From u.k. I play a little classical guitar myself, so I can appreciate musicianship. There’s a guitar tutor that lives around the corner from me. Nice, thanks for sharing. I had that same sentiment with my very first guitar many years ago. Oooh… Tough choice! I honestly love both, and have both. I started with dabbling on both guitars, but more on the electric. But I really doubled down and got serious on advancing on the guitar when I discovered the Spanish Guitar. It’s up to you, ask yourself which one will fire you up with more passion to find the motivation to stay consistent and stay disciplined. I would suggest to focus on one to start and then you can always add in the other style later on. Good luck 😅

I have that same guitar. I didn't think I would like it as much as I do. I hate that coral color, and am looking into repainting it a different color. My only real complaint about the guitar is the high action. Maybe I got a lemon, I don't know, but I have it lowered about as low as it will go, and it's still fairly high. It's a bit difficult to play above about the seventh fret or so. But it actually sounds pretty decent, responds well to loud, aggressive playing. I don't think of it as particularly subtle, but hey, it was $150. It's great for that price.
@DavidChiriboga
@DavidChiriboga 2 ай бұрын
Cool man. Yea, sometimes with factory guitars, you have to try a couple before purchasing because the action may slightly vary. The one I got was pretty nicely set. No complaints about the action. That’s one of the usual culprits with lower budget guitars. So I was surprised with the nice playability factor. I dig the bold color. I like the Blue one too. But painting it would be a fun project. I actually thought of that as well. The problem is it could get pricey if someone is doing it for you. So defeats the purchase of a budget friendly guitar. lol 🙃

I’d have to hear a little more about where you currently are with guitar what you have, to help a bit more. So I’m actually about to launch a full immersive Spanish Guitar e-course which crosses over Flamenco and Spanish Classical techniques and beginner songs. I havnt announced it yet, but it will be out for the new year. There’s going to be group coaching lessons to go along with it and optional add on private lesson check-ins to go along with the course. Very step by step with my help along side. I’d be happy to have you on board. David, what do you think of the guitar overall? My wife bought one for me over a year ago. It was on sale for less than $200.00 at the time. I took some of the relief out of the neck. Then bought a bone saddle. I set the string height at 2.5 mm. The last thing I did was to install a golpeador. I’ve been playing on it to learn flamenco techniques. I am really enjoying having it for many reasons. l still want to get a Blanca because the woods used in the Protege C1 give it a darker sound than I hear with a Blanca. ]What are your thoughts?
@DavidChiriboga
@DavidChiriboga Жыл бұрын
Hey Timothy! That’s cool, didn’t know you had one. So, yes, first I think when possible, it’s great if a guitar tech can asses it and make some adjustments and a proper set up to the players comfort, when someone wants to throw that in their budget. The one I received luckily feels good as is. That’s what I liked about it off hand. The only drawback I found as a budget guitar is that you have to add a golpeador for Flamenco playing if you want to take care of it. In terms of really assessing the quality, of course it’s not going to hold up to high end guitar, but what blew me way was that usually for that price range, the guitars are not that great in terms of sound quality and the playability is rough. So that why I’m digging recommending this model for budget beginner friendly students. The playability is so important for beginners. So that’s my main angle on it… And also for many beginner ears, they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between this and higher end models. But it sounds like you can hear those differences and are itching for a Blanca. 😉 The tone doesn’t bother me. I usually tend to like warmer darker tones

Hi! Thanks for chiming in, but Romanza is definitely famously known for being an anonymous composition. To my knowledge, nobody knows the composer of this very famous melody. I am very aware of Tarrega, as he’s one of my favorites for Spanish classical, but he’s definitely not the composer of that piece. Maybe he made an arrangement of it, but that would be as far as that goes.

Definitely good choices, though Asturias was actually written for piano. (Sounds great on guitar) Are we talking ONLY Spanish composers? Personally, I'd add Fandanguillo by Turina, Sonatina by Torroba, Homenaje a Debussy by de Falla, Invocación y danza by Rodrigo, Mozart variations op.9 by Sor, & Danza Española no.5 by Granados. (For another piano piece) OK, more than 5! Lol
