This is my 3rd time watching this video and ever since I saw it the first time, i have stuck with the guarded clipper over comb technique in all of my haircuts. Shaved my time off by 10 minutes. Gracias primo!

Here’s why this is the best video tutorial you’ve ever made. 1. You did a great job with explaining what you’re doing. 2. The length of the video is perfect. 3. The close ups added so much extra and is rare in video tutorials. 4. Good model with great hair. In fact, this model you’ve used before and that also was an excellent video and finally 5..... it’s just a great cut! 🤘🏼

A good thing to do, let's say you do a 1.5 guard open, halfway, then closed. On the one guard, just do half way then closed. Then with the half guard the same thing. Then with no guard, open, halfway, then closed. Then once the steps are done, go back in with your 1.5, 1, and .5 guards, by checking your mirror and refine the fade by opening and closing to blend out the dark areas and any lines. Then boom your good!!

My barber always fades with clipper over comb and his fades are one of the best. I don’t see too many barbers using that technique as their main go to technique, so because I see you doing this, you have a new subscriber :)

RexyFan this is refreshing to read, I love fading clipper over comb, and also scissor over comb with my extremely tiny barber comb to get in there really close. I honestly thought this was a no no, my clients love it, and barbers in my community says a real barber only uses clippers and guards. Idk lol I graduated from Paul Mitchell, they don’t really go into detail with fades

Clipper over comb is huge for speed. But also i think it is better to just do your procedures quickly and run through the haircut basically do a rough draft. Then come back and detail what needs to be done. A lot of times if you sit there trying to make everything perfect on the first go around it ends up eating away a lot of time.

It's a lot of practice and repetition but you also need to think!! Fading isn't just about a system or hair length it's also color/contrast. You need to think about where the hair is growing, seeing dark spots or shadows, USING YOUR MIRRORS! Also making your fade symmetrical. Not enough people think about these things. It's not just slapping guards on and making guidelines. You have to think about what you are doing. If you put thought into all these things your fades will come out a lot better. Repetition will help you get the motions and the comfortability down and help you develop your own system or way of cutting. Stick to what is most comfortable to you so you can focus on the other factors that make a fade great. If you are too focused on what step you are going to do next you wont be focusing on the other details and you might take too long on your haircuts

Great video..ijust cost myself time by doing the foil after the fade, wich I have always done, and will never have to do again, thankyou... if you don't already have one, how about a video specifically on doing a fast efficient skin taper to the neck line, maybe multiple different methods and styles to choose from, or just how you apply your basic taper around the neck line on a haircut that calls for it... 4 barbers from my shop went to NYC barbershop museum, and would definitely be open to traveling for educational purposes again in the future! Thanks again...

I'm from N.J but now live in Florida about 16yrs and very few and I mean few do this type of technique. Keep up the videos I'd like to try some of these on my son and I'm not a barber but you give me the inspiration to try it at home. THANKS and best of luck.

Love your work and advice. I am in beauty school, wanting to become a barber. Unfortunately I dont learn much as it seems to be more focussed on color and long hair etc. I learn most from watching video’s and asking students that graduated and are barbering. The hardest thing for me is the different shapes on the head. A fade can look great at the end result, but when I make a picture, it totally looks wrong! Even if the outline looks good 😱 It confuses me. Also, are there certain shapes of the head that go better with a certain hight of the skin fade? Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I will spread the word at my school 😀
@iiSup3rior5 жыл бұрын
Yes, different head shapes should use different fades. Don't be afraid to tell a client what's best for them if they demand it even after the consult then it's up to them but if they don't like it then maybe they may come back to you because you had an idea. There's videos on here that teach you different head shapes for you to consult.

Nice video bro... you don’t have to take my advice ur haircut came out nice but when your doing clipper over comb i would roll the comb out a little more it looks like your holding the comb straight up and down , That’s why there’s lighter spots around the parietal ridge. And just to be clear I’m not hating or anything like that just a suggestion/tip.... nice video though bro respect

Also thought I’d mention, I don’t always see how clipper over comb beats a guard, when you did the left side of his head, I would’ve just ran a 2 or 3 over it, I feel that would’ve been faster. The top part that is.
@JohnDoe-rk7ej3 жыл бұрын
Because if you used a 2 or 3 guard, you would need to blend that into your 1.5 on the sides. Clipper over comb blends directly into a 1.5 and you can angle it however you want.
@zumbafanification512 жыл бұрын

“They see a lot of lines because they don’t create enough space” that’s my issue, and that’s the solution. I have a man bun, so I need to start the bald an inch or less lower on my head. The fade always ends up being squished at the top, and the transition from bald to dark is too abrupt. I always thought my fading wasn’t good enough, but I’m not too bad, I just don’t allow myself enough space.
