I really appreciate your process and presentation of your results and opinions. I’m getting back into processing my own film with various developers and find your take on the differences - sometimes subtle and other times drastic - very helpful indeed. You’re doing a lot of the testing which helps me save time and avoid wasting chemicals by using the wrong developer with certain film stocks.. so thank you! I’m looking forward to your future examinations of other films.

Thank you! These are always fun to make, too. I enjoy seeing what films can do in different chemicals and finding new chemistry combinations for them, too.

Totally disagree with the recommendation to avoid HC110. I've developed 10 rolls in dilution B (shot at 100, 5:30 at 20c) and they all turned out fantastic. Less grain than Delta 100, exposure latitude that just keeps going, and the reciprocity into the multi minutes ranges is something I've put to use many times. I juat wish they'd make it in 4x5

Lots of factors weigh in on how a chemistry performs, too. Baseline water chemistry, mix accuracy, thermometer accuracy, and most of all aesthetic expectations are all factors that can affect developer choice.

@@DavidHancock totally, it's the main reason I just stick with just one developer. HC110 is so easy to work with, and I like that with some stocks I can get really fine grain negatives, and with other stocks I can get really gritty grain if that's what I want. Thanks for doing an the hard work of comparing them all

Thanks for doing this review. Your analysis and comments are always great. Having shot several 35mm rolls, I like ACROS 100 II a lot. I did do some post-scanning work in Capture One to get the contrast that I prefer.

Thank you and very nice! Acros does take a bit of work in post sometimes.

Could somebody give me an advice how to develop this film in Ilfotec LC 29? I used dev chart, but the result was not good as I expected?!
@DavidHancock Жыл бұрын
I wish I could, but I've never used LC29.

Thank you David for such a comprehensive review. In your opinion, how do the 35mm negatives developed in Fomadon LQR compare to those developed with Acufine, Paranol and HC-110? You mentioned that Fomadon yielded very good results, so I was curious if you'd recommend this developer over the other three, or at least as a comparable option? Thank you!

Good question and I don't know that I can answer it well. My results with Acufine had promise but I messed up the mixing and that makes it hard to know for sure. I do tend to like HC-110 and Paranol S, in general.

You are 100% spot on the GREEN FILTER, is a useless filter it actually degrades the quality of the image.
@DavidHancock Жыл бұрын
I haven't yet found a use for it, which means it's probably for something like portraits under tungsten light. But yeah, some of the color filters are really kinda gimmicky.
@lensman5762 Жыл бұрын
Depends on the colour temperature of the ambient light.

Go Arista ADU 100 or Foma Classic 100 - same thing, different name! You guess you will be surprised and very pleased. Something a little different from Fuji Acros II admittedly

If by that you mean will it be able to archive your manifesto for your followers to read from for decades to come, then, yes, it's great for incels.
