Everytime your partner walks behind her with the tablet over his face (filming) that's all I can see, and it makes me chuckle. You have a keeper there.

Rub suspect pearl on front teeth. Smooth = faux. Gritty = either real ( cultured or natural, and as she said naturals can be stupidly expensive) or a high-end fake like vintage Mallorca Pearls. The latter cost more than some real ones (i.e. Chinese freshwaters). I eliminate 90% of fakes by eyeball, at least in person. The paint around the holes is a dead giveaway. Another dead giveaway is the shape. If they're perfectly matched and perfectly round... let's say it's highly likely they're fakes. As in El Gordo/ Megabucks Lotto odds. If you're blindingly lucky you may find a conch pearl, but you won't. Might find a pretty fake one though - they're a deep peach color, more or less. Perfume also affects fake pearls, btw. They discolor.

@David Harper Antiques TV! My nan gifted me with her pearls that her husband had bought for her years ago, unfortunately my nan has passed but I was fortunate enough to inherit her pearls and they are indeed Natural Pearls 😊🌊🐚 I adore my pearls and won't ever sell or give them up. No matter what price someone gives.

my last post man was a fresh water pearl collector and these fresh waster pearl were dropped over to the UK personally and these were used now in one of he last pearl sets given to late Diana - Princess of Wales - by Charles at the time - now these are not collected anymore even thought he found a way to open them without killing them - so that again again explain why they are so valuable and all the same advice is the same what she said so spot on

What I would have been interested in is how you tell a good quality cultured pearl necklace from a lesser quality cultured pearl one, with pearls that have a large nucleus, as the lady was saying.

I've ended up with a string of pink pearls from inheritances i'm trying to find out if they're real or not and this video taught me nothing and left me with the same unanswered questions ,,Grittiness is to me as a person that knows nothing is relevant ,what is gritty to me might be smooth to someone else ,weight ,what the hell does that mean when there is no sizes comparisons for me to judge what weight she is even talking about ,how ever this would be good for primary school students as an interest video that doesn't really teach anything ,hence me learning nothing from this video ,,,some pictures ,diagrams close up microscope pictures with obvious points would be helpful ,,it seems i'm going to just have to go to the jeweler

I doubt very much you’ll ever get decades of experience in one video. It might be that you need to put a bit more time into your own research for your own good. This video is highly informative and will start you off on your road of discovery. But, yes paying a jeweller to do this for you is also a good idea
