Well done! I'm well versed in DAWs and sampling but have retained my decades old mental block on scripting and spreadsheets, so I appreciate how you use such complex (to me) tools to make the workflow most productive yet you explain it in a very clear manner. I can almost understand it! I'll have to watch a few more times :) Thumbs way up.

Always nice to see my scripts in action, many thx! 😊 4:48 I dont exactly get what it does but this could be done within REAPER without spreadsheet app I guess, it is just about changing regions timing. Also note that I have Region CSV importer who are not sensitive to extra columns. 8:20 I think using the brand new Track group edit feature can solve this without the grouping script now. "by their order in selection" means that all first selected items per track are grouped together, then all seconds etc. 11:27 I have a script which select items under a certain length, as it doesnt do any audio analyses it works very fast, can be a solution there

I think you just saved me a ton of frustration. This workflow (in its full form) is maybe over the top for my needs right now but absolutely I can see the benefits of laying everything out properly right from the start. A seed has been planted!

This is a mammoth undertaking and it's only part of the violin sample set? You're so organised and so dedicated. It's just amazing

Very interesting. I only heard of Decent Sampler this weekend but it seems like a great project. Your presentation makes it seem easy to do but my coding skills are negligible!

Thank you. Will definitely follow this guidance for my broken orchestra project. Should cut the process down by a year or so! 😳 So so useful! Thank you.

Wow, great tip on the importing markers to Reaper. I think I'll finally get around to making an sfz of my bass

Hi, could you make the Decent Sampler just as easy as the abandoned Maize Sampler? It would be great to create instruments in Decent Sampler without having to depend so much on the code and make it more visual, thanks

Yes!!! It’s definitely coming. :)

Amazing Tutorial David! Have a question: What is those numbers representing at the region: 0_63_56_1 for example? It got replaced and I had trouble following along with it :)

HI tank you for the Spreadsheet, I have one question. How do you determine MidiNote, the LoNote and the HiNote
@MijnGeloof3 жыл бұрын
In the spreaadsheet the midi note is the high note, but how do you determine the LoNote

I was curious as to why you choose REAPER as your DAW for this.
@DavidHilowitzMusic3 жыл бұрын
Ah, it’s because it’s highly scriptable. There are so many ways to automate slicing and chopping in REAPER that save time.

Thanks for this, it was very interesting. I have done sample libraries with round robins and velocities for acoustic guitar and drums I used Cubase which I think is a lot easier for this kind of thing. One thing i didn't take into account is you have to be very proficient on the instrument you are sampling unlike me 😢🤣 otherwise it will probably take a lot longer with all the fluffed notes
@DavidHilowitzMusic3 жыл бұрын
Oh, it really is a challenge-especially when one is trying to get the velocities just right. 😁
