The History of the World: Every Year (3800BC-Present)
by davidjl/davidjl123
More information (including sources, music, etc.):
rentry.org/dav...
NOTE(S):
Vassals/protectorates are not shown separately (as a general rule).
There will be perceived inaccuracies! It is unrealistic for a project of this scale to be 100% accurate. There will also be simplifications/oversimplifications for time & sanity's sake. You can constructively point anything you think I missed.
Many areas are derived or "traced" from other creators. A primary point of creating this project was (and still is) to see what it would look like if the creations of the videomapping community were put together in one world video. Although there are many areas that are indeed completely original, I do not claim every pixel as my own original work.
This video shows actual control (as a general rule), which means unrecognized countries will appear if de facto control was established.
Areas will be "blank" until state-level entities form (as a general rule)
Ancient lakes/coastlines, modern reservoirs, etc. may be anachronistic.
Video may be subject to artifacts.
I already know about the Minoans, unfortunately the video is already uploaded and I can't add any missing things now. I have to make it a blacklisted word because for some reason a lot of people still try to point this out despite this already being addressed
Ideally the video would have had nation name labels on the map itself, but it is virtually impossible as 1) have to sacrifice territory visibility, 2) there is no convenient way to add labels onto each of the thousands of image files and 3) labels made within the video editor would bloat the video project exponentially. Hopefully the nation pixel rankings are better than nothing at all as a compromise. :)

The History of the World: Every Year (3800BC-Present) (read the description for more information) In a project with as large of a scope as this there will always be missing things, but I hope you will be able to appreciate it. Please thoroughly read the description before making a judgement ^^ Music list is also in the description

This video is nothing short of a masterpiece. Five years of dedication have resulted in the most detailed historical timeline I’ve ever encountered - a dynamic world map showing the shifting borders of civilizations and nations, year by year, from 3800 BCE to 2024. It’s an incredible journey through history, beautifully presented and accompanied by an excellent soundtrack that makes it even more immersive. Truly inspiring work - a must-watch for history enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates sheer brilliance in visual storytelling!

There is no recognition of the Americas until colonial Spain began a lengthy (and the most successful) gen0cide in history: 5,000 years of south American civilization was wiped out in the resulting Spanish Inquisition and its iconoclasm of all 'barbaric and unChristian things' in the Americas. Millions of books, statues, temples, cities, and bloodlines were burnt off the surface of the Earth. Not a single mention of the years before this, in this video. How is that a masterpiece? I haven't even begun mentioning the Tower of Jericho (8,000 BCE) nor Gobekli Tepe (11,600 BCE), Bonkuclu Tarla, or any of the other DOZENS of sites across the Anatolian landscape and the Levant...some archaeologists consider that region of Gobekli Tepe to have been a supercivilization, sprawling across thousands of square kilometers in potentially hundreds of small city-like villages surrounding temples of megalithic construction. All of that predates Egypt, Sumer, and Harappa/Indus-Valley by entire millennia. In between those eras we have the early Holocene, which seems to have been a shitty time to live; most megalithic stuff is crude and unsophisticated until (it seems) right before modern history begins. Which was right after the proposed Burckle Impact in the Indian Ocean, an event which would have ended evolving civilizations much like the Younger Dryas ended the supercivilization in the Levant/Anatolia. Just a few thoughts I wanted to share!

Masterpiece? He completely forgot about the millions of Aboriginal Australians that have been living there for over 65 thousand years. He also forgot about the 10 million peoples living in North Americas for 20 thousand years. And what about the Maya civilization, Aztecs, or the HUGE Inca population of Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and Colombia that had been there for 14 THOUSAND years? Not to mention the Micronesians, Polynesians, and other Pacific peoples. He got it ALL wrong and needs to start over.

I cannot imagine how much effort went into this, your channel is criminally underrated. I love how you also showed all the modern civil wars and how the world map isn’t actually as stable as most people think. But I do think it might be worth making an alternative version with the countries labeled on the map itself, I did have a pretty hard time figuring out the names of the ancient civilizations, and after a certain point I just gave up. The map does look cleaner without labels, but it also makes it a lot harder to understand.

Except there is no recognition of Olmecs, Quechua, Mayan, Incan, or Aztec 'World History'. Nor is there acknowledgement of Native American civilization until colonization; the fact that Native Americans did not smelt steel or process concrete does not deny them civilization-status: They had organized government, social rights and stratification, argiculture, continuity of history, religion, and everything else that makes up a civilization (economy notwithstanding; they had 'medium of exchange' and the concept of property rights was vague and can be easily associated with the spiritual/religious practices of the various tribes). Sorry to say: Not including any of this is a huge glaring oversight; Caral-Supe has the oldest pyramid on Earth, and there are more pyramids in South America than the rest of the world combined. What makes it even more mysterious is that many sites (like Machu Picchu) are designed almost exactly like Egyptian megaliths, and those sites are in granite or andesite, much like Egypt or Anatolia (circa 3,500 BCE or earlier; later civilizations didn't seem able to cut megalithic/polygonal granite/andesite/basalt; that art was lost or abandoned in lieu of limestone, sandstone, alabaster, and marble)

Again love this! But since it is not interactive, maybe adding really small numbers on each area would help when it is hard to color differentiate... subscribed

Remarquable compilation !!! Mes félicitations 🎉❤😊 Wonderfull job done !!! Of course, as you say, some data may be missing, or ommited for clarity, and there may be some mistakes here and there, but still, it is a wonderful and remarkable video !!! The pre-Columbian civilizations in the American continent (Inca, Maya, Inuit, Pueblo etc) could be added, but would require the full world to be shown from the beginning, with a problem of visibility in the Mediterranean basin. Probably better in a separate vidéo ??? Anyway, congratulations for this masterpiece 🎉 👍👍👍👍👍

I mean I am just blown away by the fact that each freaking year there appears to be happening incredible amounts of land exchange / occupation of various countries in the world! Especially before 1500! Each year!

This video is really great, all those 5 years put into this. But next time I recommend you use the 8K Bam map or you could use the Gigamap (16K) or even the Examap if you dare (43K) since the Q-Bam map is inaccurate in some places but otherwise you made a great video!

This is too good to be a single video, you should probably make it in your website so that everyone can see which country where in every year

There should be global project to map the timeline on a website. Like you can set what year and what speed of progress you wanna see and when you pause and hover cursor into one of the map. There should be basic information about the following nation and what that nation currently doing at that time... Its basically just like how timeline view on Europa Universalis IV but more detailed.

Now this is up to my expectations of a great world history timeline video. All it needs is slight sea level changes shown across the world, ethnic timeline, continental drift, nah I'm kidding on those three especially the last one, but still this video is up to my expectations.
