Dr. Bernard, this is Mark August. I just wanted to say that i was a Trinitarian. I was challenged during discussion with a Oneness person to study the history of the trinity. Another Oneness man referred me to your 3 volume set on Church History. I read your volume 1 and went through some EndTime Ministries material. I also investigated through other means. After this research in church history to prove the trinity correct, i actually ended up proving the trinity a post biblical construct. In my efforts to prove oneness wrong, i ended up finding that oneness was correct. All thanks, in part, to your writing. Thank you for your decades of efforts to help folks like me come to the knowledge of the development of trinity theory. God bless!

That is awesome, most trinitarian churches are not very tolerant to having oneness teachers in their pulpit, they normally consider the oneness teaching "heresy" and I have even heard trinitarian preachers even suggest that oneness believers are not even saved! I pray that God gives you great wisdom and continued favor with the fellowship you will soon pastor and may God use you as a light to show others the truth. God has opened this door for you, and I know others will come to the knowledge of the truth as a result. God bless in Jesus name!

It is, and I have both "The Oneness of God," and "The New Birth" written by David Bernard, and they are great help tools I use including the "Light For Living" Home Bible Study Guide, and the "Tabernacle Plan" written by Myrl Nutting from UPC in 1966 and about 40 Marvin Hicks cassette tapes of Pastor Hicks preaching on many different topics. Two of my favorite books are: "BAPTISM in God's Plan" by Oliver F. Fauss, and "THE ALMIGHTY GOD IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST" by Andrew D. Urshan. I have also studied Church history, and have some modern day reading material I enjoy reading about Isreal, God, and America, which gives insight on where we're at in the last days regarding Bible prophecies, but in the end there's nothing that compares to the Word of God itself.

How do you get three out of this passage? The Word Became Flesh Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Hi Hargis - Please share your definition of what Trinitarianism? This way... we have a basis of your understanding.... then... we can compare it to what you say the 'Oneness' is... then we can perhaps see why 75 percent said of the Godhead... oneness.... and figure out why this is so... don't think I am 'hating' on you ... I am not... trust you're well. Lee
@davidcoleman5860
@davidcoleman5860 6 ай бұрын
@@realmccoy124 Actually, White didn't conduct a survey. You can find his comments on KZbin. Given his interaction with the Evangelical community, he estimated that over 70% would fail the orthodoxy test and that the significant majority of them would probably have a modalist conception of God. Now, if that perception is accurate, it is quite remarkable that so many people who were not raised in Oneness Pentecostalism and attend trinitarian churches still see God in modalist terms. Moreover, a common complaint by Eastern and Social Trinitarians is that the Latin version of the Trinity (divine simplicity, which the significant majority of Christians affirm) logically extends to Modalism. And if that is the case, then the significant majority of Christianity is _de facto_ Oneness!

Why have a debate? A debate is nothing but a PR campaign for either side. It's a contest of who can put together the slickest package and who can score the most gotcha points. If you know what the respective doctrines are, make a comparison, check for scriptural and logical consistency, and make a decision. We contend that the doctrine(s) of the Trinity is (are) inherently contradictory given the affirmation of a real distinction between the alleged persons of the Godhead and the claim that there is one God. This unavoidably makes God a composite being which renders Him contingent and dependent. The Trinity self-destructs prior to even cracking open one's Bible and is thus disqualified as even a theory for biblical interpretation.

Im happy i found the truth, i never understood the trinity when i read the bible. I kept trying to force to believe in it, thinking it would give me salvation. Yet it never made sense for me. I started reading the bible as its written and i realized it made more sense that a trinity is not true. I then started watching your videos, and now i know what is true. Thank you, and keep posting videos, it will help many more realize the truth. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." Deuteronomy 6:4

Grab a Hebrew commentary on the use of that word "one" and you immediately realized it is the same word used in Gen.2:24. Which means 2 persons became one. Wonder why such word was used for the "God of Israel"? 🤔 If you are confused about the trinity, go study it in the bible. This pastor is asking questions that are just funny on the surface and it seems to me he is talking to christians who believe in the trinity but cannot articulate it. That is fine but to pretend like those are the only Christian that exist is deceptive. Am I to believe that for all his exposure to Trinitarian, he never came across the ones who can take him to task on his shallow questions? I have names of people I can send his way if he is willing to take the challenge.

As a Trinitarian myself I’m happy to hear that anyone in the Oneness camp wouldn’t say that a Trinitarian isn’t saved or is a genuine believer. I agree that we don’t have to have a complete intellectual understanding of God before placing genuine faith in Christ. I’m glad that we can respectfully disagree on this issue while still affirming our brotherhood in Christ. The same cannot be said of Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormons for example. They are in a completely different category. I appreciate David’s explanation. That said, here are my thoughts. This still doesn’t address John 1:1. Was the Word God it was the Word with God? Or perhaps both at the same time? Or Jesus’ baptism where you clearly see the Father, Son, and Spirit at the same time where they are clearly distinct. Nor does it explain Jesus’ constant reference to the Father and the Spirit as distinct persons in John 14-16. Or the times when the Father spoke from heaven at the Mount of Transfiguration or in John 12:28. David also correctly says there is one throne in Revelation but glosses over the fact that the Lamb and the Spirit are still distinct. ‭‭See Revelation‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ He also said that Trinitarians don’t believe in three gods but then seems to make a case that they believe in three gods 😬 If anyone knows if David’s books are helpful in answering these questions then please let me know! Or if there are any other videos or resources that help explain the Oneness position let me know. Thanks!

I have questions for trinitarians that they can't answer, such as "if they are co-eternal then how can a son be as old as his father?" but for oneness Pentecostals I would ask, "how can a son be his own father?" I've heard explanations for both, but no scripture for either. So, at the end of the day it comes down to which one makes more sense out of scripture and that would be the trinitarian view. (Because Jesus Himself spoke of being with the Father from the beginning) In reality, questions like this delve into philosophy more than theology because neither question can be answered without going into a strawman argument or circular reasoning. There are just too many examples of Jesus praying to the Father, and separation of God the Father from the Lord Jesus in the intro to each of the Pauline epistles. There are Scriptural examples of one meaning unity between persons. Even with what Bernard calls the "royal we" in his book where he explains that it's like a person who sits down and says to himself what will "we" do today. He uses this as an explanation of why God said in Genesis, "Let us make man in our image after our likeness..." yet because there is one God in number then it must be the "royal we" being used here. That's making a claim based on an assumption. He even further supports his point by writing about the royal decrees sent by the king with the Israel giving them permission to build. In the letter the king seemingly refers to himself in the plural, but in reality, he is referring to himself and the entirety of the king's court. So, it is a literal "we." I would like to add because I'm not schizo.... I've never thought to myself in the plural. I've thought to myself, "what will I do today?" or "How should I handle this situation?" I was UPC for the better part of 20 years. I would also like to point out that there has been sufficient research done that shows in its earliest years some of the founding members of those who would help form the UPC did not condemn trinitarians or believe that they were lost. In fact, they would say that they were saved because they were responding by faith to all the light that they had received. They referred to trinitarian believers as those who were in the womb of the mother (the church) and because of that, they were not lost.
@jackiet5334
@jackiet5334 Жыл бұрын
I agree with this. And yes, the presentation of Dr. Bernard about the 'royal we', as God saying, "Let us" (where it's like a person who sits down and says to himself what will "we" do today) is kind of comparing God's dialect to the West's modern English. I don't think God talks like we do at all, nor using modern quips. We will sometimes say "what are we going to do about this problem", meaning "I", but that is just cultural speak. We can't project our cultural speak onto the God of the Bible.

I've always wanted to have a conversation with Dr. Benard. I believe this not to be a mystery. I am learning that there there are those who are trinity and never found this in the bible alone. I have a hebrew and aramaic concornance and have scoured it and the bible for many years. I also have a point of clarity of with logical explaination of how shekinah is completely physically possible. We are so ignorant to think we know the limits of God and creation. And it is backed in his book.

After 15 years of questioning the Trinity and asking for wisdom I received a revelation on the Trinity last week. God “the father” is an unknowable and indescribable force. Neither man nor woman. He just IS. However, he wants his creation to know him. So he conceived of himself as “Son of Man” as shown in the daniel 7 prophecy. When he conceives of himself as son of man this is the Logos - God himself in form that manifested during the incarnation as Jesus. He did this for us. That we might know him and be able to conceptualize him and know his plan. That’s why Jesus is not created but is eternal. Because he exists as god’s eternal form. This concept actually ties “oneness” theology and trinitarian theology together and gets us closer to the truth of who god is.

@@boardbill5852 no it’s not a contradiction. It’s the word we as humans use to describe things that can’t be described. And he is the father because he’s the source of all things. God is neither man nor woman nor force nor spirit. He’s all things he chooses to be. That’s why he’s God. If we can exactly describe him he wouldn’t be God

@@orangemanbad: I'm having a difficult time wrapping my mind around your statement, but I will point out that God is always capitalized signifying his deity. I do believe that it's impossible to understand the Godhead without having the Holy Ghost, and the Bible says in (1 Corinthians 12:3) "That no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost," and the only way to receive the Holy Ghost, which is the Spirit of Christ is to obey (Acts 2:38), and this is where Trinitarians miss the mark because they stand upon (John 3:16), which is not how we are born-again, saved and filled with the Holy Ghost, and it's a direct result of Trinitarians not knowing how to rightfully divide the Word of God, which is imperative to understanding sound doctrine and the truth. Mere faith in Christ doesn't amount to a hill of beans, and Christ commands our obedience to his Word otherwise we become hypocrites, and it's why Christ said in (John 14:15) "If ye love me, keep my commandments." I have debated Baptist Preachers who tell ppl that smoking cigarettes and doing drugs won't prevent someone from entering into the Kingdom, which I beg to differ because the Bible also says in (1 Corinthians 3:17) "If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy," and I'm quite certain that smoking cigarettes and doing drugs qualifies as defiling the Temple of God, and the Baptist Preacher who said this to me did so because his wife was a smoker addicted to cigarettes, and he believes that since she "Confessed Christ, and accepted the Lord as her personal saviour" that she's going into the Kingdom regardless of what she does in life, and that type of mindset and thinking gives ppl a license and pass to committ as much sin as they want and still go to heaven, which the Bible does not teach or support, and the majority of ppl who stand upon (John 3:16) think the same way. The Bible even tells us in (Hebrews 12:14) "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord," and holiness means a separation from worldly desires and to consecrate thyself unto God, and it's why Christ says in (1 Corinthians 6:17) "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." Ppl cannot do whatever they please even to their own bodies: "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:20). I've had many encounters here on KZbin by ppl who haven't even read let alone study the Bible, and they will try to debate others without any knowledge or understanding of the scriptures, which is a foolish thing to do. Romans 1:18-32 is an accurate description of today's America, and our nation shall be held to account for all the sin our society has embraced and uplifts. You can't serve two masters the Bible says, and you'll either obey the Word of God and make it into the Kingdom or you won't, but ppl can't have it both ways. Acts 2:38🕊

In Revelation 6:16-17 the Bible says, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of THEIR wrath has come…” In Luke 23:46 the Bible says, “Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into YOUR hands I commit my spirit.” Is Jesus talking to Himself here? In John 16:28 Jesus says, “I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” Notice Jesus did not say, “I left heaven and became the son, and now I am going back to heaven to become the Father again. In John 16:38 Jesus says, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” This verse is saying Jesus has His own will and the Father has His. Yes, they don’t disagree, of course, but still this verse speaks of two wills. In John 14:31 Jesus says, “…but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me.” In John 5:19 Jesus says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” In John 1:1 the Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was WITH God, and the Word was God.” If Oneness was true, shouldn’t this verse say, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God.” John 6:44 says, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.” Again, if oneness was true, shouldn’t this verse say, “No one can come to me, unless I draw him.” In John 10:15, Jesus says, “…even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” Matthew 26:29 says, “And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” Read for yourself; does this sound like oneness, or is Jesus having conversations with the Father within the triune God-head?

You do know that Jesus is all three right? 1 Timothy 3:16. Sounds like God doesn't it?......ephesians 4:5, there is but one God.....Christ came as an example unto us as how we should live unto the father. The word says you who have seen me has seen the father. John 1v1 makes a transition. You pointed out that the word was WITH God but then it says the word IS God. John 4:23-34 says that But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The word plainly tells us about the father being worshipped in spirit and truth then it goes on to say that God is a spirit, saying the same thing it said before about the father. There is no distinction. One God. Jesus is God, Jesus is the father. The word talks about one Lord all over scripture. Exodus:8:10 speaks about the Lord our God. Jesus is Lord. Ephesians 4:6 would contradict itself if they are different. Philipians 2:6-7 makes it clear. Christ was in the form of God. He made himself of no reputation. He put on sinful flesh. Please remember that God is omnipresent and omnipotent. Our small minds cannot fathom this great God. Great is the mystery of Godliness. Father, son, and holy ghost are titles. Those are the three that bare record in heaven. One God. God bless you.

@@simplybribrii The Father did not die on the cross, the Son did. The Father does not have a body, nor does the Holy Spirit, but Jesus does. The Father never got hungry or tired, but Jesus did in the incarnation. When Jesus, on the Earth, was praying to the Father, there was actual conversation going on, in prayer. It was not just Jesus pretending or imagining a conversation with Himself as the Father. You mentioned John 1 saying, "... word was WITH God but then it says the word IS God." You agree with the Word BEING God, but you seem to be fumbling with the Word being WITH God. You've already got your mind made up with Oneness Pentacostalism, and now you go into the word and make that doctrine fit. Jesus prayed to the Father, He didn't say, "I pray to myself (the Father) Jesus said, "I only do what I see the Father doing." He did not say, "I only do what I see myself as the Father doing." Jesus said, "If it be possible, take this cup from me, but not my will but your will be done." Jesus did NOT say, "...not my will as the son be done, but my will as the Father be done." Jesus did not say, "No one can come to me as Jesus, unless I as the Father draw him to me as the Son." I could go on and on. Read the scripture without your preconceived Oneness doctrinal bent.

@@judeabraha2023 I'm just going to give you Bible: Hebrews 1:8 Has the Father calling Jesus, God. "When God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him. In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire. But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O GOD, will last for ever and ever..." Revelation 1:8 says, " “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Rev 1:17 says this about Jesus, "When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the FIRST and the LAST. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! Notice the Lord God Almighty is called Alpha and Omega, and Jesus is called the First and the Last. Titus 2:13 says, "while we wait for the blessed hope-the appearing of the glory of our great GOD and Savior, Jesus Christ," Genesis 1:1 says, " In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Isaiah 44:24 - "Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the Lord, who made all things, who ALONE stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself," Colossians 1:15-16 says, " He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him ALL THINGS WERE CREATED, that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers." 1st John 5:20 says, "And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true GOD and eternal life." John 20:28 says, "Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Colossians 2:9 says, "For in Him ALL the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form..." John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD." In John 10:33 Jesus claims to be God, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.” Isaiah 9:6 - For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, MIGHTY GOD, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Romans 9:5 - To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is GOD over all, blessed forever." Romans 10:9-13 - because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!" These two verses say there is one Lord and Jesus is called Lord. Revelation 17:14 -" They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings," Isaiah 43:11 - " I am the Lord [Jehovah], and besides me there is no savior." BUT clearly Jesus is called Savior. 1 John 4:14 - "And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world." In the OLD Testament God is called the ONLY savior. Isaiah 42:8,11 - "I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other," John 17:5 - "And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed." I could go on and on. But you have a contradiction, because these verses say God alone created heaven and earth, and also says Jesus created everything. So unless there is a trinity there is a major contradiction in the Bible.

Is it possible that some new Oneness converts (depending on the church) might be influenced to believe in Oneness because they are taught that they are special, have been specifically chosen by God to receive the Oneness revelation? I was always told this then, that I came out of trinitarianism and that I had received a unique revelation, not given to just anybody. It was tempting to believe that I was so special and more important, as the attitude was among many of my oneness brethren. The bible studies on Oneness never convinced me, but I was adamantly told it was the truth and trinitarians were false, and the assumption was that they were unsaved. The reason I stayed in the Oneness camp as a new babe in Christ was for fear. I thought I could never go against the learned pastors and leaders, who were inspired, anointed by the Holy Spirit...........UNtIL I met other hungry Trinitarian Christians, learned pastors and leaders, who were also anointed by the Holy Spirit, and I met loving trinitarians who were Holy Spirit filled and showed the example of Jesus Christ to the world. Then, I realized that my zeal as a Oneness was perhaps religious pride. The kind of pride that says "we're right and you're wrong". A feeling of superiority. I saw too much of this religious pride and immediately started to rethink and want to study the Godhead on my own, just verse by verse. I think if we search without judgment of others, we'll find what we're looking for.

So you are being influenced by man and what they think of you. I have never found that attitude in the Apostolic Church. My belief in the oneness of God came from Him showing me the many multiple passages where He plainly says He is one and only one. Isa. 44: 6Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Jesus in Rev. 22:13 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” These verses alone prove the oneness of God. There can’t be two first and last. The first Christians were Jews they would have never accepted a teaching of a trinity. The scripture is not of a private interpretation. To accept what is a majority doesn’t prove truth. You are talking like the typical secular human. The way of man seems right, but that way deceives.

Jesus freely gave, and it's nice to hear others give their free opinions and thoughts. I can't help it if I see a trinitarian view, but I just do and I'm reading the Oneness points, and asking the Lord to reveal in His time the understanding of some verses that sound contradictory. Maybe God doesn't even want us debating this because it's something we'll only understand in heaven. My reference to being influenced by men was my confession. @@jackiet5334 I definitely don’t condemn you for that and I think it would be foolish for anyone to condemn anyone else for a lack of understanding. I’m Oneness and have been for 20+ years. I’ve also struggled with the concept of Oneness and Trinity. I see the appeal on both sides of the argument as far trying to draw to a conclusive understanding of Who God is. I know God is ONE and absolutely ONE, but I may not understand everything about it also. I’m Oneness and have stayed Oneness because I believe in the infilling of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in other tongues, that is plain as day in Scripture. I also believe that if you have the opportunity to be baptized, then you absolutely should. But there’s many other things that I simply do not understand and have even drawn my own conclusions on. For instance, I lean more towards the belief in eternal security. Many people reject this as “a license to sin” but if you truly love the Lord and have His Spirit, then you won’t want to sin. You will want to better yourself in every area of your life, even though our efforts are often futile. The Bible tells us that even our righteousness are as filthy rags before Him. I believe that the most important thing of all is obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith in the work that He started in us and that He will be faithful to finish the work in us to the end.

@Lee McCoy God is an invisible Spirit who is equally present throughout his creation. As David and others have said, even if they go to the depth of the seas or Hell, God is there. We can't escape his presence. He simply created a heaven, a throne in heaven, and permanently manifested his glory there. God has exalted his word above all his name. Yet his name is the Word of God. We can't perceive of his word or Word except our hearing. There is only one God, the Father. In order to manifest himself and his word, he had to become flesh. That human body is called the Son of God. Yet it's the Father himself in that form.

Bro. Bernard, I love the way you cut through the hyperbole of the doctrine of the Trinity. Before God transformed my life in 1996 I grew up agnostic. So, when I studied the Scriptures for the first time I did it without any bias. I just wanted to know the truth. One of the first things I saw while studying the Gospels was that the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary and caused her to conceive, not the Father. Also, when Jesus spoke to Philip he said "He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?" Why didn't He say "Son"? In seeing these seeming contradictions it caused me to look deeper. I quickly realized something that caused a paradigm shift in the way I think. Either Jesus was dual natured and spoke as both man and God or the whole thing was an intellectual hustle. Now 27 years later I have studied to show myself approved, rightly dividing the Word of God. And, find it hard to understand why people cling to the manmade doctrine of the Trinity. In discussing this topic with Trinitarians the only Scripture I find even slightly effective for their argument is John 17:5. And, knowing that God had the plan of salvation planned from the foundation of the earth makes this a poor argument for Trinitarianism. As for me, I love the doctrine of the Oneness of God. And concerning the Word of God I will continue to follow Proverb 23:23 and Psalm 119:11.

Why do some pentecostal beliefs in the trinity
@jamesarthurreed
@jamesarthurreed 7 ай бұрын
Some pentecostals believe in the doctrine of the trinity because pentecostalism as a modern movement to return to the truth of the scriptures regarding the work of the Spirit in the Holy Ghost given and the plan of salvation generally arose in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century out of the influence of the Second Work movement of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries on the mainline Protestant Catholic "denominations" (sects), particularly the Methodists and Baptists, with people coming out from the various organizations of these groups in response to the scriptural experiences of receiving the promise of the Father in the pouring out of his Spirit on all flesh in the Holy Ghost given, but they didn't and largely haven't come to the truth of the oneness of God who is a Spirit incarnate in the one person of our Lord Jesus Christ and the essential necessity of baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins in the new birth experience to enter into and see the kingdom of God. The enduring influence of the apostasy of the Catholic Church generally and the church of Rome particularly cannot be understated, and to the extent that those who identify as oneness apostolic pentecostals have come out of Rome, we can see how our doctrine, while coming back to the scriptures apart from the doctrines and traditions of men and of devils, has changed in response thereto. These other pentecostals (the most notable of which are the Trinitarian Evangelical and Fundamentalist sect that is the Assembly of God, their major organization being akin to the UPCI as the largest sect for those who identify as Oneness Apostolics), while having the true gospel of Christ yet being in error in part in their understanding of the scriptural doctrine of the oneness of God in the fulness of the Godhead bodily dwelling in Christ and the plan of salvation, still adhere in part to the doctrines of Rome out of which the Protestant Catholics ostensibly separated to a degree, although not entirely.

Phil 2:5 " have this mind among yourselves, which was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped". v9 " therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name". Eph 6: 23 " peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from GOD THE FATHER AND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST." 2 Cor 13:14 " The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." Lastly, David wants to know who we pray to, and you know Jesus gives us that answer, " Our Father who art in heaven, hallow be your name..." the disciples had ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. Phil.4:6 " let your request BE MADE KNOWN TO GOD". I pray to God the Father, our Father, just as Jesus did.

We pray to the Father in the name of Jesus. Jesus encompasses all of who the one God is (Father, son, and holy Spirit). Whatsoever we do in word or deed we do in the name of Jesus. 1 Timothy 3:16 says who God (Jesus) is. The word that was with God and His own word being God Himself …became flesh. I suppose that God spoke the plan of the Christ (the plan of redemption) into existence from the foundation of the world. It was a plan to reconcile men back to a place of communion and fellowship with God the creator. Jesus is God and He is the lamb that sits on one throne set in Heaven. 1 John 5:20.

God the Father manifested himself in flesh 1 Tim (3:16), this human manifestation is called the Son of God (lot 1:35). Jesus said: "I and the Father are one", Jesus is the Father and the Son, being one Father and Son. 2. Distinction of places implies distinction of entities or entities (one in heaven and another on earth). Therefore there cannot be only one God, but at least two gods, therefore his argument is polytheistic. 3. say "three persons" or "God the son" or "These are unbiblical arguments."

We just don't know. But 3 persons DO NOT MEAN 3 GODS. That is nonsense. "Let us" in Genesis means more than one person. The conclusion is easy, 2 persons in the God family, Father and Jesus. The Holy Spirit will always be a mystery. Leave it at that.

@@derekbaker777 You write, "Ppl without the Holy Ghost don't understand the Godhead". This statement can't be true. The Sovereign God chooses to fill many believers with the Holy Ghost, some at home praying, some in jail, on their deathbeds, in different trinitarian christian denominations , of every tribe, race, nation. Does anyone have the right to accuse those God has chosen of being in error? If God fills a Trinitarian church/ministry with His Holy Spirit, praise God! Whoever draws to God, God will draw to them, and God's understanding will come to them. I know that many Oneness are Holy Ghost filled, as well as many Trinitarians (and yes, even nuns in convents, as I witnessed when young, and felt God 's beautiful presence)and we need to show respect to each other when we disagree. God can fill anyone He chooses and it's His decision on the timing (whether we have all understanding of the Godhead or not).

@@jackiet5334: "No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." (1 Corinthians 12:3). The Bible from the beginning establishes that God is one in Deuteronomy 6:4, which is confirmed by John the revelator when he saw in a vision "ONE" sitting on the throne in Revelation 4:2 opposed to multiple deities like Trinitarians believe in. See also Isaiah 9:6, 43:10-11.

Both camps talk past each other while saying the same things. Oneness pentecostals hold to a more literal understanding of what ONE means vs Trinitarians attempting to show more of the complex nature of the godhead according to all scripture not just Deut 6:4 which they affirm. Also God can't die. Some unitarians in History believed that Jesus was a mere creation and then his sonship "dissolves" after the ascension which is problematic according to scripture where Jesus is seen siting at the right hand of the Father and not done away with. Both camps believe in 1 almighty YHWH. I grew up oneness pentecostal and UPCI has a bad race based issue and trinitarians make The Trinity a salvation issue which can be problematic also. Love you all in Jesus name.

Modalism is heresy. Always has been, and always will be. God is one God in Three Persons. This is crystal clear in the New Testament, and is hinted at in the Old. The three persons are more than modes or hats or manifestations. They are distinct, co-eternal, each uncreated, each unlimited, each ominipotent, each distinct. Yet there is one God in essence. Jesus prayed to and obeyed his Father. Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin. The Holy Spirit descended on the disciples at Pentecost in tongues of fire. All three persons have characteristics of deity and distinct personality. They are not modes of one person. Modalism is heresy. The church hashed this issue out hundreds of years ago! It took a couple of hundred years after Christ's resurrection to come to a clear definition. But the doctrine of the trinity, although the word itself is not in the Bible, the concept clearly is. Pentecostals have always been weak on doctrine. Their strength is holy living and praising and worshiping God. Those are good things, of course. But doctrine is important too. And they get a lot of it wrong.

This is confusing to me. While I’ve had issues with trinitarianism & its history, I don’t understand your oneness teachings. Is there a specific video that explains the differences specifically & simply? There are also many scriptures that talk abt Jesus being seen on the right hand of God … while you state seeing them as separate is contrary to the Bible. Acts 7:55-56 55 But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” Romans 8:34 34 who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died-more than that, who was raised-who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Ephesians 1:20 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, Colossians 3:1 1 if then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Hebrews 1:3 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Hebrews 8:1 1 Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, Hebrews 10:12 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, Hebrews 12:2 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. 1 Peter 3:22 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him. Revelation 3:21 21 the one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. Acts 2:33 33 being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from ethe Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.

The Triune God isn't two or threeness of God but understood in way of Christ saying I and My Father are One. The Spirit can say I am One with the Father and the Son because God is inseparable in Love, Truth, Revelation and Action in Creation, Redemption and Sovereignty. When you know the Father you truly know the Son and the Spirit and see the Divine Personality equally in Father, Son and Spirit. Mind, Heart and Action are in Equality in Roles and Purpose. You speak of Three Modes and Titles but God is Co equally and Distinctly Present as Father, Son and Spirit each with Role and Purpose Personally to us

John 6:35-40: - "And Jesus said unto them: I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will whch hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." It would seem to me, that this shows that Jesus was sent from heaven and has a will, as He said, "not do mine own will, but to do the Father's will. Jesus had a will too, but chose to obey his Father's will. Can anyone explain this?

As the ONE true God MANIFESTED in FLESH-as Being in the Flesh,there are so many temptations,and Jesus the God in Flesh cannot just ignore that temptation.The will of GOD(FATHER) is to give His life for our Sin,but the Flesh is so weak even though the Spirit is willing..Just read this Verses.. Matthew 26:39,41 [39]And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Matthew 26:41 [41]Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. That means,JESUS the GOD that in the FLESH has own will,but the GOD as FATHER)has the FIRM own will..because GOD is a SPIRIT. Being a human,like you and me we have the weakness and so we have our own will,but with the Spirit of the LORD GOD,not our will but the LORD GOD's wilt. Same as JESUS in the FLESH-Remember that GOD manifested in FLESH..Meaning JESUS(GOD)is in FLESH,so thats true being in FLESH,He has own will like us..but the true reason why JESUS was sent to us(or manifested in flesh)is to save us on our sin.

All confusion about the "trinity" will be done away with if we remember one thing: THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD; that truth is prevalent throughout the old and new testament. Do you believe in ONE GOD, or three?? If you claim that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God, then you are polytheistic and believe in three gods. If you say that GOD IS the Father, GOD IS the Son, GOD IS the Holy Ghost, then you are truly ONENESS and believe in ONE GOD

Hey Jackie... you are in the chapter that I wrestled with in understanding that Communion is more than symbolic as it is stated in Evangelical circles... (contextually they're using the word incorrectly)... It was John 6... where I understood that the Eucharist isn't just a little snack we dust off from time to time ... The Eucharist is the focal point of Christian worship... above the preached word... above the music... Christ is present.
