@@tlig , yeah it's odd that the count is never mentioned. Coyle's count did seem a little on the quick side, which is one thing, but compounded by the fact that he was too focussed on the timekeeper rather than Benn. He wasn't looking at Benn when he was counting and hadn't even looked back at him when he waved it off - if he had, he'd have seen that Benn was up. For what it's worth I think Benn had shot his bolt anyway and the end would have come soon after, but I've seen big protests over less.

Benn proved he was a great fighter after sustaining this defeat and the one to eubank. This and the eubank fights plus McClellan leave no doubt as to Benn's greatness in the ring

Benn was a savage in the ring , great fights , he always brought that excitement. Most boxers would have faded out after brutal fights and defeats to Watson and Eubank but Benn had ❤️

No more than seven in real time but I think he was on the timekeepers nine when he stopped it without even looking Benns way. Still early but I don't think Benn was that bothered.

I agree, MC Callum damaged Watson, who was a very talented boxer. I suspect the medical before the eubank fight was " not very thorough. Shall we say!!!

Benn's fighting style exposed him too much, as he relied on punching power with mediocre defense. This knockout was not just by way a jab, the previous left hook had stunned him and the jab finished him.

Totally agree. Benn has the heart and the bravery, but too often punches himself out by the 6th round. His defence is almost non-existant wh8ch means his opponents dont have any trouble hitting him. Benn was a brawler, and would always be shown up by a smart boxer.

Not long after this fight Mike McCallum schools Watson. My point being is that Benn was never a great fighter. Always hand picked or fighters past their prime or who ballooned up to 220 (Barkley) and then wants to fight them. A healthy McClellan, Toney, McCallum, Nunn,Hagler, Hearns and sooo many others beat Benn by k.o. Benn was a class B fighter his whole career, who did he beat? Oh Yeah Doug DeWitt. Lol
