But once Luter was getting closer he kinda thought he had to move closer because the ball might collide with Luter and he'd need to be ready for a loose ball. At least that was my impression. I don't fault Ray Ray for not catching that ball. I fault him more for trying to scoop the free ball while running instead of just falling on it.

Don’t want to overeact but at what point do we make a ST coordinator change? That unit does not seem to be improving and the sample size is significant. We left 16 points of bad ST play on the field today. Even though Purdy played great, we cant flub that many scoring opportunities and expect to win ball games. Also this is the 2nd major ST blunder by Luter (first being a very costly one in SB). I know blocking a gunner is challenging but he seems to get manhandled at precisely the wrong time.

There was one injury - someone went out with an injured toe. I forgot who that was - maybe Renaldo Green? Anyway, the injury report is never really known until Monday. Some injuries don't show until the following day. That's why there's an injury report on Mondays. But yeah - no major injuries.

Absolutely - the first view was the best. You could not only see that great reach back to get the ball inside the pylon as his body went OOB, but directly facing the camera, as the ball crossed the goal line, was the tattoos on his arm, one of which was the NFL logo. Yes - and I also noticed Bosa had to look up at the sun for the ball. One of the excellent aspects of Purdy's throws is their characteristic rainbow arcs. He gets criticized for not having a rocket arm. Rocket arms are WAY overrated. Any WR would tell you they'd much rather catch a rainbow arc than a bullet any day (and twice on Sunday). Rainbow arc balls are very CATCHABLE, while a higher percentage of bullets are dropped. Bullets are also more often intercepted or knocked down by defenders, and certainly don't make it over the LB's and in front of the DB's - much harder to throw into "layers." And the last virtue of a rainbow arc ball that I'll mention was evident in that throw to CMC: a rainbow arc ball provides more spotting time for a receiver, not just because it lingers longer in the sky but also there's more visible trajectory in the sky to allow the receiver to see and know WHERE it will land. Overall targeting/target acquisition is much easier for receivers. The majority of bullets are thrown out of desperation because the QB is forced to throw NOW to targets, i.e. because otherwise the QB will be sacked or because the target window is very tight, i.e. not being able to throw with anticipation. A good QB doesn't throw due to desperation (bullets) but instead with anticipation. Purdy hardly ever has to throw bullets. Even when pressured, like the throw to CMC, there's the discipline to throw with anticipation - ahead of CMC, where CMC WILL be after the rainbow arc lands. That's the other thing that's amazing about Purdy's rainbow throws, not just accuracy of where it will land, but the extra challenge of accuracy WHEN a slow ball will land - exactly where AND when it will land. Purdy is so impressive and consistently so, in this regard. These are things that Purdy-deniers like Nick Wright and others seem unable to understand.

This win was a C- at best. Relying on a kicker coming back from an ankle injury is ridiculous. The red zone troubles continue after CMC returns, with no trade of value before the deadline. I don't know how many of you have been paying attention, but there is no way this squad beats the lions, Redskins(Commanders), or Eagles. Hell, apparently, they can only beat the seagulls in our own division.

Agree with those who wonder why the Special Teams Coordinator is still the Special Teams Coordinator. He should have been fired a long time ago. As far as I know even with today's win the Niners are still like 5 and 32 when trailing in the 4th Quarter. The good news is that Purdy showed that he is indeed elite. Only elite QBs succeed in winning games with two minute drives. He is beginning to demonstrate almost Brady like qualities and the Purdy to Kiddle connection is a carbon copy of the Brady to Gronk connection.
