Pearsall is not even close to a replacement for BA. It remains to be seen if he can even get on the field this year. That's like saying Robert Beal was a replacement for Bosa last year. Meanwhile Pearsall doesn't even want to sign the 49ers contract even though the amount is codified by the player's agreement.

Your right that if Niners do lose BA this season. Niners will still be fine still, the offense was rated 1 in the league last year and if the offense goes down to 5 which is highly unlikely with the best offensive player in CMC. I wouldn't mind if Niners do trade BA, let Pearsall, Jennings and Gray get more reps. I think Logan Thomas will be effective as a receiver if they choose to target him more. Then use the ammunition BA's trade to get a defensive tackle or safety during the season. I think Niners should go back to the 2019 run, where the defense is more exceptional than the offense because if Niners do make it to the superbowl, it's either against Joe Burrow or Patrick Mahones. I rather have a great defense than a top offense.

I agree, if I was the Niners I would’ve traded him before the draft. Makes sense cause Purdy is getting 55 million next year and I would rather sign Greenlaw, and Lenior or Ward next offseason cause if they sign BA. Greenlaw, Lenior, Ward, Juice, Deebo, and many more won’t be on the team next offseason. And receivers are the Niners deepest position right now. Plus Deebo, Pearsall, and JJ isn’t a bad top 3 line up. The reason why I think Niners want to hold on to him this season and BA knows that and make him play on the 5th year. So the best thing for him to do is start shit, so he gets traded before the season started. Also if Niners didn’t extend CMC or JJ, he probably was the Niners priority but he wants to play hard ball and Niners have all the leverage in the situation. I'm not sure the data supports the idea that the Niners are becoming substantially more pass-first. I went and looked up each team's ratio of pass/run and looked at where the Niners fit. Comparing the last 5 regular seasons, the Niners' ratio of pass to run has remained very constant, and in the 12th percentile of the league or lower every year, with the sole exception of a spike in passing in 2020 (not sure why, but especially given the year, it's likely an outlier). There was no increase in the 2023 regular season of either the Niners' raw ratio of pass/run, or their pass/run percentile league-wide compared to 2022 and 2021. The 2023 playoffs (which you frequently cite) did show some increase in pass/run ratio, but that still only moved the Niners up to the 22nd percentile of pass/run ratio compared to the rest of the playoff field (compared to about the 7th percentile in 2022 and 2021), and of course was also a much smaller sample size of only 3 games. I'd really be interested to see a video where you dive into these pass/run numbers in more depth and analyze what the recent trends with the Niners' offense really are. If nothing else, it'd be a nice break for all of us from Aiyuk contract drama.🤣

Guys should play their contracts out, no complaints. If the team decides they want to extend a player and open a negotiation, then that's for them to decide. Play out the contract and earn a bigger one on the free market when your contract is up. All this hold out and want for more before even completing the contract originally signed is all bad faith. Love BA, but the receiver market is wrecked now. The 49ers will never be able to pay that, so get to camp, get prepared, have the best year of your life, and go get paid next year.

If he's still the best then he'll get a monster contract because Deebo will likely be more releasable. If he misses games and isn't the best wide receiver on the Niners, 49ers can dump him and extend Deebo.

Pearsall can play both, and Jennings technically plays the slot more than any other WR they have. A lot of people have understandably gotten attached to BA, but Pearsall has just as much if not more upside than BA had coming out. He's a better athlete. He'll have huge shoes to fill as a blocker, but I'm not personally worried about Kittle, Jennings, Juice and every other great skill position blocker they have. What's the worst that could happen? Purdy throws the ball more? Sign me up.

In large part, I agree. I can't help but think: if they'd made this $26 million APY offer a few months ago, or even 6 weeks ago, I think it's a lot more likely they would have gotten the deal done around that price point. Yes, Aiyuk (and his agent) may have wanted to wait on other contracts like Jefferson, but the predicted price point for Jefferson a couple months ago was probably nowhere near what he actually got. An earlier offer with the lower predicted price point in mind could very well have gotten things done.
