When booking international flights , I find that booking a flight from one major city to another major city in another country is usually much higher in price than booking from a smaller city to another smaller city in another country then using the domestic flights in that country to get to your final destination , the reason for this is that some airlines don't have landing rights in major cities and it is often harder to fill all their seats when landing at a smaller city so they highly discount the fares to get more passengers on board . I have got fares for about 90% less using this strategy .

As someone who has been working in the Reservations departament of at least 7 international airlines in the past 15 years, I do not recommend buying a ticket in other websites and currencies other than your own. Reason? It's a common practice for airlines to outsource their Reservations departments across several service providers and call centers. Not all the call centers are authorized to handle your booking depending on the country of booking, and you might need to spend in international phone calls to a specific country customer service call center. Yes, there may be options to use an email or chat, but the most immediate service and response is through a call. Also, depending on your form of payment billing address and country of booking, the system can flag your ticket for suspected fraud check, and you might find out only when you try to check in online, or worst, at the airport.

When I found out about that I felt like I had everything I needed to go anywhere I wanted, and save money while doing it. Skiplagged is crazy cheap! I was looking at one way flights from Puerto Vallarta Mexico to Chiang Mai Thailand and the cheapest I found when looking about 4 months out was around $1500 usd but skip lagged found one about $650 usd and a bunch around $950 usd. That is a huge savings and not just one or two percent

So when I'm heading back to the US from Europe, I'm always booking a connecting flight with a layover in a city on the way, like London for example. It cuts my travel costs and also gives me a chance to explore a new city for a day... It's a good way to get a nice little treat & explore another city before I get home!

You explained booking flights with a VPN the most comprehensively I've ever seen on KZbin. You also explained the other points extremely well AND all with examples, which helps greatly. A few years ago, I had a flight YVR-YYZ-YOW round trip and I decided last minute I wanted to stay in Toronto for a couple days, then I'd take a short train ride to Kingston and my sister would pick me up and we'd drive the hour to her house (SE of Ottawa). The agent told me I'd need to take the whole trip to Ottawa, because the airline might cancel my return booking if I wasn't on the last leg of the flight. In the end I took the whole flight then went to VIA RAIL and took a 4 hour train ride to Toronto. I don't remember why I didn't just change the booking (maybe it was expensive, not sure)

Great Video bud, but you forgot to mention one thing regarding skiplagged. Passengers aren't able to check in bags on skiplagged flights because their luggage will get booked for the final destination, while they would be getting off at the layover. I need to fly to South America from India and I am trying to find an economical way to fly there. If you got any tips for international travelers, holla!! Good Stuff anyway!! Stay at it David and keep giving Goliath a run for its money!!

*Read this from an experienced airlines sales person.* One ways have traditionally been unreasonably expensive compared to return flights, so that is already a cost driver with little benefit unless you travel like the wind blows. I would strongly advise you to check travel policies for your destination before you book a one way ticket. Many countries require an itinerary showing when you’ll leave again before you’re allowed in. Very few “proper” (=non low cost) airlines will only sell seats on their own flights. Saying the opposite is complete nonsense! All major airlines participate in so-called codeshare programs where they will sell seats on their codeshare partners’ routes, both direct flights and flights with stop-overs. The latter, however, are rarely cheaper but can be. Finally, saving 30 dollars is absurd. I’d suggest you check very carefully what rate your credit card converts at - because googling the conversion will use a mid-rate which you are not getting. Hence you could end up paying more by following this advice. Mistake fares can easily last months but obviously not the insane mistakes. At one big airline I spotted what I thought was a mistake. Both my colleagues and my manager thought it was just the market price (matching competitors). It was only cleared when I asked a regional revenue manager who got all pale when I told him about the fare. He immediately grabbed the phone and had the error fixed. The only great advice I see is clearing your cookies or using a private browser window. The websites may work - I don’t know them.
