One of the great songs I was introduced to during my time traveling with the Gaithers was Until Then. I didn’t grow up listening to Southern Gospel music so many of the songs we recorded while I was there I was hearing for the first time. As expected, Until Then floored me. I was taken by the lyric and the melody, but also by the story of the writer. Stuart Hamblen was America’s first singing cowboy. He was a hugely popular radio personality. As a songwriter, his works were recorded by Rosemary Clooney, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, and Elvis and many more. And as an actor, he starred along side the likes of John Wayne, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. He had an amazing journey that included coming to know Jesus through a Billy Graham crusade. I fell in love with Until Then I think because it was not only about longing for Heaven, but having joy in the journey. I took it from its cowboy roots and set it in a Puccini-like treatment with a soaring orchestra to better fit the way I would communicate such a deep, meaningful expression of faith. I work at a jail and recently downloaded this album. When I walk at lunchtime, and see the walls and fences and know the depravity and brokenness inside ......I listen to “Until Then” on my iPhone and it reminds me that all will be better someday. David, thank you for this beautiful reminder.

Your position is the most valuable in God’s eyes cause I was more blessed than ever while I was working at the jail . I used to giving out chick gospel tracts despite jail officials considering as contraband . Many times I was threatening to get fire but God was faithful . I still remember a Muslim inmate who took tracts everyday and started attending the chapel . The day he released from jail , I saw black thread necklaces dangling from his neck and I couldn’t help but tears streaming down on my face . God’s Words go out from His mouth will not return in vain but accomplish his purpose . May God use you as His faithful servant for His kingdom and glory. From California

The thing about David's voice is it is of a quality worthy to be heard by the Lord, because it is one of His finest creations. Though He delights in all our voices when our hearts are sincere, I imagine He finds great delight when David sings a song of praise. I'm grateful He lets us hear, too. What a great blessing just hearing you sing. I love that song. I have watched my in laws pass and then my parents. All on this earth did nothing for them. This was one of my precious dad’s favorite songs...... and was actually sung at his funeral. He served his Lord with all of his heart and soul, and looked with joyous anticipation for that day, when God would finally call him home. Several years before he went home to be with Jesus, for all eternity, he retired from being a pastor, after 50 years of full-time ministry. And I know the Savior was waiting for him with open arms...... to tell him those words that I know he longed to hear when he came face-to-face with his Lord; “Well done...... good and faithful servant”. My husband went to his “forever home” in May 2019. This was one ☝️ of his many favorites. And David does it like no one else (especially my husband 😉). But I can’t help wondering why the second verse isn’t sung. It is so relevant. Here goes: “This weary world with all it’s toll of of misery and struggle, May take it’s toll of misery and strife, the soul of man is like a waiting falcon, When it’s released, it’s destined for the skies”. I love this old hymn!! My dad was an old time song leader, well before the days of worship leaders. He often sang this one as a solo. At his funeral in 2014 at the young age of 94, my brother sang it in honor of him. Yes, he and my mom had long lives of serving our wonderful Savior.
