I just got hired at Starbucks a few weeks ago and the starting pay is $16.50 an hour. its definatly one of the highest paying fast-food restaurants in my state. that's insane to start at $10. I would not stay if I was making any less because it pretty stressful

This video helped me feel less guilty about quitting. I quit two weeks ago and Sunday is my very last day. The only part I enjoyed about this job was my coworkers. They are so nice and since most of them are my age, I’ve become close friends with some of them. We joke around a lot which helps keep me sane lol. But besides that it’s not worth staying there a long time. Like you said it’s nice for a summer job, or like me, in reality you would only stay there for a year. There is sooo much pressure and a lot of customers are so entitled. We could never even turn off mobile orders even if it would’ve helped. Also customer connections, as an introvert it’s one of the things I hate most. They even had this bingo card one time to make us ask them embarrassing questions like their favorite color or just really random questions that make no sense. I even got in trouble one time for not connecting enough but how am I supposed to be connecting and lowering drive times.

I feel the exact same way when you are switching shifts and you feel that there are always eyes on you!! It’s exhausting to feel that you are never “preforming” the way they want you to.

I am about to quit after almost 11 YEARS working for Stabucks. yes. I know. WHY have I don't this to myself. But I used to believe in Starbucks. I used to think the benefits were worth it and I got comfortable. Let's be honest. I've gone from an amazing store to a badly run one, and I'm finally going to be brave, make my escape, and pursue something more meaningful with better compensation. Thank you for this video. It's what I needed to see today. <3

I put in my one week today . My boss and everyone there are so drama filled and it’s a stressful job. I love Starbucks but I couldn’t handle the boss he wouldn’t give me a set schedule even tho I’m a minor he made me stay till closing time and I would end up walking home alone at night, he also made me wear an apron with a color I am allergic to and I developed hives, I just couldn’t handle it anymore , without benefits I wouldn’t go

I disagree with the transferable skills part. Many other employers respect Starbucks and you gain a lot of soft skills in customer service, teamwork, and working under pressure. I’ve had many Starbucks co-workers who have gotten good jobs while leveraging their experience working at Starbucks. Sure it isn’t a career job, but it’s not a waste of time to work there if you do want to gain some real world work experience.

I feel this. Constantly over performing and never having a second to breathe. Emotional labor. I am exhausted. And no transferrable skills. Literally nothing to add under starbucks that matters at any other job. That was a huge wakeup call.

I had to quit Starbucks. Working there put me off Starbucks ill stick to other coffee shops. Pay isn't good as it should be, management ive been around have been bitchy and picked favourites. The store barely had staff, or could keep staff, so when it's busy you're panicking and drink orders being insane as they are, it gets overwhelming and makes you feel sick, my body hurt so badly.

I currently work at starbucks and I'm honestly getting ready to quit🙃 not only was my experience horrible but everyone there is drama filled even the adults. I've been there for 5 months now and I've been on bar maybe 3 times and they continue to refuse to let me train. All I do is clean for them. They never sent me my benefits in the mail (I got this job because it's been a dream to work there but also for insurance) I make 11 right now but no matter what, I always ask for hours and the most I get a week is 12hrs (3 days a week, 4hours a day) and when I had an anxiety attack when working due to only 3 of us working NEW YEARS EVE NIGHT with mobile orders, café and drive open and my manager just straight up said "get over it"😬 I was shaking from it visibly to.

The turnover rates in starbucks is high because they work you to the bone with little pay. The only thing worth it is the benefits, but it's definitely not a long term job.

Starbucks is the worst job I've ever had. We were the busiest store in our area, it was so busy it was hard just to take bathroom breaks. The customers were the worst people I've ever delt with, I always thought the idea of a regular customer was someone who became like a friend or family of the store but Starbucks introduced me to the other kind of regulars that come in everyday and cause problems. Because Starbucks stresses customer connections it preys on vulnerable people who should be in counseling working on building a real support network but instead come into Starbucks and depend on the Barista's for the only support and interaction they get and use them as their stand in therapists. It's a fast food corporation full of stressed out underpaid employees, it shouldn't be a substitute for mental health services and unfortunately it is for a lot of people. The vulnerable aren't getting the help they need, the baristas are expected to build these intimate customer relationships they don't have the time or energy for, everyone loses but Starbucks who makes $$$ off of lonely people.

Working is not necessarily about getting job skills...but a personal history of showing up to the job, being productive, and developing the soft skills of people interaction. All this is transferable to any future job....and very important to hiring managers.

I barely work bar. I mostly just do reg, cs, handoffs or hot foods. Honestly it’s annoying, especially when I work with certain shifts who make me clean almost every fucking thing and they just stand there and talk story. They also complained because I check my phone on the floor lmao, I’m ready to just quit. The pay is 15 but the stress is not worth it!

it’s currently my second week working there and its super stressful:( you can never get a second to breathe at all, everybody is always watching you and you will be treated rude if you did something wrong. i love the environment and the people! the job is easy the customers just make it hard …my manager isn’t giving me anything close to the schedule i requested for..idk i’m putting in my two weeks notice in next week. :(( i would love to work there when i’m older and have more free time but as a teenager who has school and has a PERSONAL life i can’t always be expected to be there everyday..its only part time..
