What if everything collapsed tomorrow? What if the shelves on the supermarket were empty? What if you've never even planted a garden in your life... and your life depended on growing your own food? Don't panic! Check out my book Grow or Die and learn what you need to survive a crash: amzn.to/3jwPvUP Get my free composting booklet: www.thesurvivalgardener.com/simple-composting/ "Compost Your Enemies" T-shirts: www.aardvarktees.com/collections/vendors?q=The%20Survival%20Gardener

I like how you incorporate the beetle into the frame of the hive, good deterrent. U have taught me that young bees are fuzzy and lighter in colour!, thank you. Interesting to learn how to join worker bees. Looks like a keen hive, pollen? look good for rescue hive. once again bees are happy and working hard, must be a great queen in the box

@ John Dough: Your google settings won't allow me to respond directly to you, so I hope you see this. I wouldn't worry about bee stings any more than I would worry about becoming deadly allergic to strawberries or anything else. Some people have propensity for allergic reaction - and I've heard that some people actually lose their sensitivity to the venom with repeated stings. I can tell you this: I've kept bees off and on for over 8 years and have only been stung a couple of times. My children play in the yard with the hives and have only gotten stung when they forget to put on shoes and step on a bee in the clover. They're truly peaceful creatures for the most part - and life is too short to worry a lot about allergies that could possibly develop. Be bold and may good things come your way.

Hi, thanks for the video. I am new to beekeeping and also have a hive that was relocated from a wild hive. The brood chamber looks very similar to yours but only has 5 frames so one side of the chamber is all wild comb. Why don't you take out the bottom frames? Of fear to break the comb? Should i leave the brood chamber as is or reorganize the combs into 8 frames and tidy up? Thanks!

I would leave it alone for now so they can get strong; however, Allan is the expert.

I understand this is 5 years ago but why did you leave 3 frames out of the bottom box? You said that they were rescues and that you used rubber bands to put some of their old hive in yea but why leave 3 frames out? Wouldn’t that limit their potential?

How long does it normally take bees to draw comb
@davidthegood
@davidthegood 9 жыл бұрын
+Scott Carroll They'll start drawing comb very rapidly. Leave them in a new box for a week and they'll build like crazy. It consumes a lot of energy for them to do so, however, so keeping them well-fed is important.

A lot quicker if you give them wax foundations instead of plastic crap, they hate plastic!

why smash beatle and leave body inside? Encourage bees to remove it themselves?

+Main 1 My guess is that it repels other beetles; however, I'll have to ask Allen. Thanks for stopping by.
