Compare to REST Super where fees are capped. If I am only investing in index funds in REST vs similar index funds in SMSF. No leverage, no borrowing. Is there more benefit in SMSF?

Im no financial adviser but from info online, I can see some benefits being the ability to combine super balances with family members and split the cost between all members.

Thanks. Don't need financial advise. Show me the numbers and I can make the decision. I need the numbers to make sense to open SMSF. The reason to open SMSF is have a second 1.9mil balance cap. Long term investors drop your comments.

If you're over 60 and meet certain conditions, you can sell a property held within a SMSF in the pension phase and pay no capital gains tax on the sale.
