Davinci Resolve | The BEST Slow Motion & Re-Time Twixtor - For Anime Editors & Editors - Flowframes

Today I will be showing you the BEST & free way to use Twixtor or Slow Motion in DaVinci Resolve for AMV editing with better interpolation than Optical flow. This is the best method and there is not a better way, this uses Flowframes to create/interpolate new frames that are used to re-time and create slow-motion.

(NOTES)
You can compound clip after you re-time with timestretcher, if you do it before you will lose the frames inside fusion and it will get set to your timeline frame rate.
This process can be lengthy, if you don't have the patience and time to put every clip through Flowframes, you should just use this for clips that you can't get to stop warping.

Great tutorial. In cutting the dead frames, what if something changes in the backgrond. for instance, the character does not move but something changes in the background or the camera shifts a bit? Do you still cut them out?

Normally I cut out any movement that isn't the focused character.

I still don't get, why you (not specifically you) wouldn't use retime and scaling in davinci. Optical flow and motion estimation works wonders, especially speed warp, even enhanced better, if you're on the free version

if the clip has less frames to work with then optical flow doesn't have enough information to fill the gaps but with flow frames the interpolation is done by sampling and hence optical flow has more information about frames which results in less to no warp than traditional

Not everyone owns studio so if anything I would have compared optical flow. I could have used optical flow but the point was to show the results that flowframes gives, not the difference between interpolation options.

Once you render the png sequence, import it as a png sequence into your editor of choice. Plenty of videos on how to do that

@@Titangrille I was referring to the automatic duplicated frame cutting, it’s a feature that will try to cut the duplicated frames out for you inside Flowframes. Sometimes it doesn’t cut them all out and misses some.

Yes, you don’t need to cut the frames out either, it may cause warp on hud’s with fast movement. I’ve seen this is used for Minecraft and Apex before.
