It is fun trying to buy parts from the auto parts store for my V3500 Crew Cab sometimes. Since V sounds like C they bring back a part for a Gen 4 "C" series Chevy instead of a Gen 3 Square Body "V" series Chevy. When you try to explain the mistake they made they get a p!ssed off attitude with you.

1988 was the first year for the trip odometer in both the square body models & OBSs. 1988 was also the first year for the OBSs too.

@DavisOffRoad1 those square body crew cab pickups were only offered on three quarter ton & one ton models & the only pickup boxes they put on them were long fleetsides like the one on o big red there. Also those crew cabs didn't have 4 wheel drive until 1977 but was only available on the one ton models. The three quarter ton crew cabs on the other hand didn't have 4 wheel drive & were later dropped in 1990 which made the one ton two wheel drive crew cab with single rear wheels become the base model in the square body pickup lineup.

Yes that came after the k in 1987 so 1988-1991 were v to save confusion with the c/k changing to a new body style for 1/2 tons is the short answer

@@stevebean1822 exactly we try to just dumb it down for those that may not know as much also for people searching. I know myself I’ve never even searched for a V 30 ever when looking for a truck so on the sales side, we try to use the most commonly searched terminology.
