Fareed talks about the pending reforms - land acquisition etc. He mentions that Modi tried but could not succeed. Well, why did he not succeed - it is because of the same opposition he thinks should unite to counter the BJP. If the opposition were to come to power forget about any reforms. We will be going back to all the regressive policies that we saw under the prior Congress governments - appeasement based policies, corruption, more casteism, nepotism. None of the liberal journalists mention this.

“Regressive policies under congress”? Do you know who did the reforms & liberalized India’s economy which led to the high GDP growth rates over the last 30 yrs? Yes the same congress. Also India’s GDP grew by 201% from 2004 to 2014 under the Congress and from 2014 to 2013 under BJP it grew by 82%. Yes Congress is corrupt but they’re also good for the economy.

HE is wrong with all 3 topic about China. 1) There is no stable Status Quo in Taiwan anymore. Taiwan teaches its student that China is a Foreign Country for close to 3 decades now. All young people consider themselves Taiwanese and NOT Chinese. So in 10-20 years or so, the remaining 5-10% people on Taiwan who want Unification, most of them very old, will die off. So PRC/CCP/Xi will not wait that long, 10 years at most. It is a lot easy to rule Taiwan with some people help you. 2) HE likes all other Western scholar believing blindly of free market, despite huge inequality and corruption. Xi dramatically cut down the Corruption in China and literally Save the Country and Party. You will not hear that in the West media. You only heard about million Uyghurs went through concentration (re-education. No one dies in there) camp in Xingjian. But you do not hear Xi sent 2.4 millions corrupted offices to Jail. 3) India is not high on PRC's radar. PRC did not start the conflict at border with India. Because PRC wants to focus on US. But it will not back down from any conflict started by its neighbors either, like the Philippines (it started when it changed government and policy. Not PRC's change).

Zakaria blames the Modi government of “dividing people” and making “Muslims feel like second class citizens”. It would have been nice to hear him give a couple of examples to actually back up his statements. As far as I know, Modi government’s policies have benefited people of all strips and backgrounds in India. Secondly, instead of talking about how the opposition can mathematically defeat the BJP by putting up one candidate per constituency, being the smart person he is, he should have rather talked about the so-called opposition’s failure to offer a constructive vision for the country. Also his statement about India’s women labour forces participation being lower than Saudi Arabia is false. He is very well spoken which allows him to get away with these sneaky lies and biased narrative.

Modi is not divisive at all. Hence real Muslims of Arab peninsula ( like KSA, UAE ) respect and adore Modi so much. Our indian Muslims are misguided by folks like Zakaria and Zakir Nayak and hence they misbehave with Modi and Hindus. If the indian Muslims are guided well then they also become parter of the Indian growth engine. Instead the misguided indian Muslims are a drag of the Bande Bharat Express trains 🚂 it’s sad and unfortunate. 😢

Reality check: It isn’t Modi that is respected by the Saudis or any foreign government, they respect India and more specifically the Indian economy which they want to benefit from. Modi was banned from entering the US, EU and several countries before he became PM due to his role in Gujarat. I bet if India wasn’t developing economically, nobody would care much for Modi. And if you can’t see the systemic persecution of Muslims that has taken place under Modi, then you’re either willfully blind or intellectually dishonest.

It is important to emphasize that India does not require the American social science syllabus offered by *Yale University* as we already possess a sufficient number of such resources. What India truly needs is a collaborative effort in the field of STEM between Yale University and institutions on Indian soil. Unfortunately, Yale appears to lack enthusiasm for this initiative. To put it in perspective, it is akin to the United Kingdom attempting to sell its whiskey in India, despite the fact that India already boasts a wide variety of whiskey brands. As a result, no agreement has been reached with the UK even after a period of five years. Therefore, I encourage you to propose ideas that would be mutually advantageous to both parties. Thanks 🙏

Mr. Zakaria could not be further from the truth when he talks about Modi being able to strike a cord amongst only the uneducated, proud Hindus who are making him win. Modi's vote bank also includes the educated who have seen India grow with all the reforms he has undertaken. Secondly even the Muslim women with their new found freedom vote for him. ManMohan Singh cant be given that much credit keeping in mind what was the condition if our banks when Modi took over. The bad loan mess over phone banking for the privileged few were their undoing. Modi and govt is shrewd enough to yake care of the toolkit gang desperately wanting to overthrow the govt for their petty gains. Hindu pride and Modi dividing is complete bullshit narrative of the west. The amount this govt has done for the other classes hasnt been done till date but now secular does mean that even majority is recognised as a citizen. Women in labour being low as per Goldian estimates can also be debated as manybwomen work in the unorganised sector qt home also in her estimates a woman if not working for last 7 days was recognised. Still the figures are improving since the last two decades.Hindus being tolerant means on how they should be mum on muslim appeasement politics . Sorry those days are over Mr Zakaria. We have the best person at the job in Mr Modi so think our democracy is just running fine and the problem is in US and other western nations lile Canada wherein the leaders getting elected are not delivering the goods.

Issue with NRI muslims. They think fundamentally the life they lead was secular in nature is the same as a poor muslim in a village. Look at Hasan Minhaj, his aunt was dean in AMU. Everyone in his family was in elite position prior to his parents departure from India. Likewise, Fareed’s father was a sitting MLA from Maharashtra and also has a college in his name, before Fareed left for US. Less that 1% muslims lived that life. 99% of live in Ghettos and are uneducated and have no other option but to go to any religious institutions. Which led to violence between Hindus and Muslims. Why? Saudi and Middle East still to this day funds mosques and muslims institutions in India. It was in their interest to cause feuding between Muslims and Hindus. If a riot happens, then becomes an easy call to put sanctions on India under the notions that minorities are under threat. In a nutshell it was to curtail Indian influence from any sphere let alone harmony between two communities. Two nations were created just on the basis of whether or not you’re a Muslim. Are you seriously asking me to ignore all of it and put that bane on Hindus on secularism? Which is why NRIs still to this day remain confused because they don’t know the ground realities. Fareed must be visiting india once in 3 4 years.

These expert advice should be taken with a pinch of salt. Please notice, there is zero depth in Zakaria's analysis on almost every topic in this conversation. He still thinks Modi divides the country which is ridiculous. How about Gaza Israel conflict ? Hamas is still attacking from the tunnels. There is no way Israel can pause the war without risking a larger attack on them at a later date. These people understand who pushed for war in the first place, but just keeps spinning the same false narrative. This is what selling the soul means. Just ignore the facts and keep running the narrative assuming that the audience falls into their trap. Shame on you both. Time has and will prove you wrong.

Fareed is propagating US lines in China-Indian relations. China wants good relationship with India as can be seen by much less anti-India news in China compared to large amounts of anti-China news and social media in India (especially news reported in English). The average Chinese does not harbour negative feelings of Indians as can be seen on social media-KZbin. I believe that India is deliberately making the China-Indian relationship challenging in order to gain the most concessions from US, especially in technology transfer. This is a good strategy (which China had used successfully in the past). The US of course knows that India is doing this but has no choice but to play along because it wants to “contain” China. Ultimately India will have to depend on itself, which is what Narenda Modi is trying hard to achieve and he is doing a great job. I hope he gets an overwhelming mandate in the upcoming election so that he can push through his plans before age slows him down.

Zakaria...like all India born origins never hesitates to pontificate from his high perch . 1. India has done well by using a bottom up , customised template. Even objective observers wpuld agree to it . During the times of fellow journeyman Raghuram Raj Rajan Indian MSE and manufactiring sector was pummelled down - thanks to the Chicago template. 2. Zakaria looks at India from.an American view point - one that does not work . Modi and his policies do not serve American interests some times - thats why the angst. 3. Zakaria would do well to dwell on the issues in his homeland - attack on minority places of worship...and festering divisive forces in the name of "free speech" 4.Democracy means the will of the majority . If the majority wishes Trump to be elected- why should the Obama led lobby ( that includes Zakaria) have an issue . Practice democracy at home before you pontificate to the rest of the world. I think as Indians , it is our right to elect the govt we need , the voters . The likes of Zakaria and Raghuram Rajan should focus on reviving the real US Economy - and not pontificate on the strength of the economy backed a printing press.
