Hi Davud, they are ethnic people. I am from an ethnic group from Bangladesh myself. I am part of the Chakma ethnic people and we do have similarities from people like Thailand. You’ll meet more ethnic people from Chittagong Hill Tracts like Rangamati (my hometown). I think you will need permit to visit there but I highly recommend you to visit if you have the time. Hi Davud, I am very pleased that you want to go deeper into issue that interest you. These people who had attracted your attention are the ethnic people of the hilly areas of Chittagong. They have different dialect, food, culture and way of life. They are called ‘Chakma’ we also have another group in Sylhet hilly areas who are called ‘Monipuri’ and ‘Khasia’ Mymensingh called ‘Garo’. They enrich our culture and society.

Hi Davud, hope you are enjoying your Bangla trip. The people you have been interacting in Chittagong - many have their origin from Myanmar / earlier called Burma (these people migrated from West Myanmar - Rakhine state or Arakan to East Bengal or Bangladesh) Before 1947, all this was a part of India and Bangladesh was called EAST BENGAL province of India. However with independence of India in 1947 from British, EAST BENGAL joined the country of Pakistan and became EAST PAKISTAN. Since 1971, it became Bangladesh. So it has a long history. I suggest you should visit Teknaf and the border area of Myanmar which is around 100 kilometers from Cox's Bazar. You can cross over to Burma/Myanmar also if you have a visa. People there have all similar eyes and Chinese facial features like the ones you met in this video. Happy touring.

@@swagotoroy652 You are seeing things through the lens of India, probably because you are Indian? It's not like India at all. Most of the Chakma people are integrated into Bangladeshi society unlike other tribal groups, they are more liberal. You will find lots of Chakma people in Dhaka too. Moreover, it's literally in the wiki that many Chakma people live in the southeastern part of BD. Bd has more Chakma people than India or Myanmar so, I guess you get the idea. Of course, you have made major mistakes in explaining history to simplify it. Look for a comment below from a Bangladeshi Chakma, they resonate mostly with Thai people. On the other hand, there was no India before 1947, but only British India. They are not same at all, you know that, right? Historical data suggests most of the northeastern parts of India, like you mentioned, were not part of post-1947 independent India. As far as I remember, they were made part of India one by one later in the 1970s. Saying all this was part of India it's like saying the northeast of modern India was part of Bengal. You are also maybe confusing Rakhine Rohingya with ethnic tribal people.
@swagotoroy652 Жыл бұрын
@@hatanokiripres Yes, Chakmas were originally Burmese as I learn on wiki (they are originally from Arakan region and called as Saks.) In the 17th century thet inhabited the area around Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bengal. Also let me correct you as "British India" was actually known by the political name of India (Indies in Latin) or Hindustan. There were 17 provinces in all in 1947 including East Bengal. By Northeastern parts, I dont know which exact states/regions you are talking about. Hope this clarifies.
