Floating villages in Cambodia offer a unique glimpse into a way of life that has adapted harmoniously to the country's diverse water systems. Located predominantly around the Tonle Sap Lake, these villages are home to communities that live on stilted houses or floating structures, navigating the challenges and opportunities that come with a semi-aquatic lifestyle. One of the most iconic floating villages is Kompong Phluk, where houses are built on tall stilts that rise and fall with the fluctuating water levels of the lake. During the rainy season, the water can rise dramatically, and the villages seem to float effortlessly on the surface. In contrast, during the dry season, the homes are often left high and dry, and the local inhabitants adapt by using canoes for transportation. The culture in these floating villages is rich and vibrant, and life revolves around the water. Fishing is a principal source of livelihood, and local markets often boast a variety of fresh fish and other aquatic products. Visitors to these villages can immerse themselves in this unique way of life, partaking in activities like fishing, learning traditional crafts, or enjoying local cuisine. Those who call the floating villages home can not attend public schools, own property, get a factory job, attain a driver's license or open a bank account. Surviving primarily on subsistence fishing the average household annual income of a Tonle Sap family is $500USD. Moreover, the floating villages are a testament to the resilience of the communities that inhabit them. Despite facing challenges such as changing environmental conditions and developments in infrastructure, the people continue to maintain their traditions and way of life. Tourists are often drawn to these locations for their beauty, cultural significance, and the opportunity to witness a lifestyle that is rapidly disappearing in other parts of the world. Overall, floating villages in Cambodia represent a vibrant intersection of culture, nature, and adaptation, making them a fascinating part of the country's heritage. 🇰🇭❤ 0:00 - Random Village Snacks; 6:33 - Arriving At Floating Village; 15:34 - Private Boat Forest Tour; 22:42 - 50 USD Surprise For Villager; 33:07 - Inside Floating Local Market; 37:54 - 50 USD Surprise For Captain; 41:07 - Roadside Dinner With Locals.

Yes khmer people are very big on kindness and honesty. Lying, deceiving or even past judgment on others can lead to bad karma or even bring it upon your family. Its just part of their culture to be so nice. But there is good and bad people every where.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity towards the khmer people. May the Lord bless with richness in health, wealth and longevity. 🙏🙏🙏 and the lady on the boat said they were looking for snails to eat. Crocodiles are rare in Cambodia. If they arent on the menu they are praised as protectors of the land in some areas.

Take care Davud
@Champa_Shnk6 сағат бұрын
So you assume people who doesn’t speak English is uneducated? What a ridiculous comment Cambodia has more than a language we have our own language which we’re proud of we don’t even have enough time to learn u expect everyone learn other languages instead of their own ?
