you sure do nice work. I'm a bit envious. Not only do you do nice work, you're able to find neat stuff to restore.
@@UniqueRestorations are you in the UK? Might explain why you find more antique stuff. I haven't found any true antiques or even 50's vintage items in a long time, other than some lighters. Those are already restored and waiting for someone to buy em. I used to sell a lot of them, but recently, very rarely sell one. I think the oldest one I have is from 1912. It was very rough when I got it, but looks good now and works great. I always make them work, no matter how they come out looking. I once restored an old Ronson table lighter that had recently been through hurricane Katrina. Oddly though it took a good deal of work, it came out looking better than new, and brought a good price.
@UniqueRestorations5 жыл бұрын
Toot Tall, I am in the UK and there is an abundance of items if you know where to look. My first few items came from a reclamation yard which is full of architectural salvage, then some from local antique shops, my latest find is from a Hoarders Shop. I've not come across any lighters yet though. Regards Brian
@tootall55595 жыл бұрын
@@UniqueRestorations you could, some of the best lighters were made in the UK, or other parts of Europe. Some Ronsons were made in the UK. Actually, my name is semi-famous in the UK, my real name that is, but I don't give it out. There is an author with the same name there. And a few others with the same name that have limited fame. That's the funny part, my last name is kinda rare in the US, but common in the UK. It's Welch to be exact.

Looks like a coalminer´s safety lamp, a earlier model, hence the mesh that supresses mine gases to incinerate at the flame... Great job on that crusty brass! :-D
@UniqueRestorations5 жыл бұрын
Hi Horst Szibulski I had assumed it was a heater for a green house or something on that level. A few people have said it could be a miners lamp, although I can't find one online. Maybe I'll change the title of it. Thanks for your comment. Regards Brian

@matthewlaporte6065 Жыл бұрын
I as well believe it could be a miner's lamp. The mesh could just be an alternative to using glass, which would be easily broken within the work environment. Having the lamp in the mine could have also indicated levels of suffocating, toxic or flammable gasses by how differently the flame would burn. Nice lamp 😉
