The DPS of warp spiders when bundled against a single unit is INSANE. Look at the HWT melting and the guardsmen.

I'm noticing that while the Dire Avengers are the greatest Eldar strength early and even start of mid-game, by late game they are such a lame duck that you need one, maybe two at most for repairs and a grenade spike if you're lucky. Six members to a squad, versatile with their grenades and shields yes but lacking in specialization or numbers to go the distance by actually surviving and absorbing damage or dealing it. So keeping them alive up to Tier 3 just leaves you with units that can't absorb too much damage in a fight, struggle against late game units and while they do repair they're more or less taking up your pop-cap. Going Wrait-Guard in Tier 2 is the correct strat as the IG can only outgun you if they send out Assault Pack stormies but they are fragile and bad micro gets them wiped in seconds due to low unit-count/hp, so the IG players will go for the Ogryns as the best counter, so you have to be ready to disrupt the Ogryns themselves with your Hero unit or with banshee's long enough to get in a grenade spike or for the Wraithguard to give em a good splash and allow the Banshee's to finnish em of. Banshee's unlike Dire Avengers have a high damage output and even though they don't have that many models and survivability is so-so they are still fast, good pursuit so they can go in, deal high damage and finish off fleeing units making them viable for the whole game. Tier 3 is the big danger for Eldar though, even if they wipe out the Ogryns the IG players can then switch to tanks and dominate the field as the Fire Prism gets 2-3 shotted even by regular Russ tanks, and what's even better for the IG players is that they can completely forgo the Baneblade against Eldar IMO - it's easy to get hit by an Eldrich and the Warp Spiders are hella-nasty plus the Fire Dragons are such a pain, the Baneblade can melt against Eldar if the IG player is not careful, but on the other hand the loss of a single Russ tank isn't such a big resource dump when compared to a BB and sometimes the Eldar might get frustrated and drop the Eldritch on the Russ's like what happened in this game, but since the tanks are faster if the IG player spots it as soon the marker appears, the Russ tanks will escape no prob and then he can rush back in a stomp over the more fragile Eldar units. So in my conclusion in Tier 2 Banshee's are needed to counter-initiate Ogryns and Hero support for the Wraithguard, and at least a squad of Dark Reapers to melt IG heroes and Ogryns, the Inquisitor and Commissar are a real pain and the Inq can slaughter Fire Prisms on her own with impunity if not immediately shut down.

While DA are weaker late game, having the Exarch makes them pretty good. The damage reduction and embolden ability allow them to do well in t2. Althought it is better to have 2 of them together for better dps. In t3 it's all about the buff stacking. For exemple, Banshees can still be pretty good when teamed up with Autarch, Seer Council or Avatar due to the passive dmg resistance or supression they give. Plus if they survive that long they should have high level so can still be a threat to things like setup team or range unit if used to flank the ennemy. Althought they cant really face t3 melee units but thats normal.

Good analysis, but I believe the problem for Eldar is the versatility of the Catachans. Wraithguards is definitely the way to go, but they require something to prevent melee from reaching them and there are 2 ways eldar can achieve this; with a wall of banshees or with guardian weapon teams. Catachans can negate both of these with their old reliable. In late game, Fire dragons/warp spider hay wire grenade with seer council can wreck havoc in the IG lines with impunity. Only way to fight this is with Purgatus

No IG matchup should require the baneblade so that point is moot, IG players who buys a bb either doesn't want to micro 2 leman russes or is just flexing their eco at the enemy.

@@TheZephlol I didn't mention the Catachans for the simple reason that every single IG player will recruit a Catachan unit, no ifs, ands or buts. They are such a versatile unit that it's not even funny with their power melee, shotguns, shotgun blast, old reliable and melta. Have the Commissar hero execute one and watch them rip apart Terminators, it's not even funny so if you play against IG they will always recruit a Catachan squad so you always have to account for a catachan squad. Dire Avenger grenade spikes are good, ranger pulse shots are good, really everything that can disrupt them is good. They should honestly be targeted first because they are not super tanky and an IG player will hit retreat very quickly or else he'll get them wiped out. Really the best thing that can happen to an Eldar player is for the IG player to try and outshoot them since the Wraithguard can take a pounding at range and dish out monstrous damage. Honestly in Tier 3 turning your Guardian Weapons teams into Bright lances is a very good counter to IG because of it's long range and with good spotting you can start damaging Russ tanks from range and make the IG player think twice instead of rushing in, perhaps force him to pull his tanks back to not get them damaged because they are not ready to commit to an attack. Then when they come in close you unleash the banshee's and seet council on him. I've seen a lot of players completely forgo the Aspect of Speed for the Banshee's and exclusively go with the Aspect of Might for that heavy-melee spear. Double banshee's honestly slaughter everything they encounter and are hella fast.

The one eldar player sat 2/3rds of their army on the bottom vp. That plus the spamming of fire prisms instead of brightlances or dark reapers and in general sloppy losses (wraithlord for example died for nothing). Eldar thought they had it won atthe 7 vp mark and choked.

Again Eldars need more units, IG have more options in terms of dealing with vehicles or infantry, also Fire Prism are anti tank units in lore yet here they are joke it is so sad and weird they made them like this.

@@TheControlBlue depends on the situation. WSE crack shot is amazing on AV setup team and farseer can get seer Council for dirt cheep and see anywhere on the map allowing for some cheeky Webway gate placements. As for warlock the speed buff for the whole team can allow for some really good play and retreat kill and the shield is very useful against a range focus faction. Plus their nuke is one of if not the best in the game due to how it melts tanks compared to IG who have a pretty week av nuke.

Haven't paid for any of the games since DOW 1 and it's expansions. I'd love to support the series but only if it moved back to where it belongs.
