Also there's something about Colonel Brom turning on the Blood Ravens after resenting being put down on occasion by Gabriel's orders. If anyone was putting him down it was Inquistor Toth. Gabriel actually stood up for him on occasion in this game. The Game is true canon and it's best to pay no attention to the books while playing it. Yes the books are interesting but if nothing is said in the game about these events they don't seem canonical to me.
@PsychoticSorcerer6667 жыл бұрын
That book was written by C.S. Goto the multilaser obsessed Eldar-torture fetishist. That alone makes it discountable, regardless of whether or not Black Library books are considered "canon".
@greypilgrim2286 жыл бұрын
I'd say there are certain gems within the books like the Bible, but just like the Bible your not gonna take every word as unadulterated truth now are you. Like for example Ahriman, the Black Library and the Blood Ravens origins is a good plot to expand on, but only by a more competent author who wouldn't butcher the Chapter in the process. The way I see it is anything in the game is cannon, anything the book contradicts throw away, anything the book doesn't you can decide for yourself how much is true and how much to take with a huge helping of salt. Like for example Brother Sergeant Tanthius, in the book he's described as a Terminator Sergeant and yet in the book he's a devastator Sergeant from 9th squad. And that soldier they pick up at the end of the Tartarus Campaign and decide to take him into the Chapter, which is clearly bullshit since he'd be way too old to be implanted and would die on the operating table.

It's a lot late, but which book is it?
@Damocles17814 жыл бұрын
In the epilogue of the Dawn of war book, apparently Toth was either in league with the Daemon and was possessed by it (or possibly this was merely the Daemon taking Toth's form). As interesting as that sounds I shrug that off because I consider the books to contradict the game too much. I'll just accept that Inquistor Toth was doing his duty. Both the game and book seem like different canon from one another even with some similarities.

Exterminatis is supposed to be the last resort.At this point tartarus can still be saved..then think.
@obadiahvonhammerstein45534 жыл бұрын
Greetings. Odds are that you will not end up reading this. But if by some chance you do, here is my personal reasoning why Exterminatus is a Last resort for the Imperium of Man. Consider each world in Warhammer 40K with a human presence to be a small light in the Immaterium. Whereas feral and death worlds may be considered as candle light in the warp, Civilized worlds may shine more akin to sizable hearth of light. Hive worlds however tend to be a shining furnace or lighthouse to the beings the lurk within the Warp. Every world that is rendered uninhabitable for sentient use is a world that is denied to pretty much every faction in 40K. However, the downside is that by using Exterminatus on a world it can inadvertently shift the Neverborn's or Warp Entities to focus on other Human worlds. Meaning that as time goes on there are fewer and fewer systems for the Imperium to establish its presence and those that remain are more likely to be subject to Warp threats including an increase in psyker and mutant populations, as well as Chaos cults. This could be a reason why the Emperor of Mankind was so ruthless and inclined to make a lost human civilization submit or be destroyed. He needed to establish the Imperial Truth which would deny the denizens of the Warp much of their needed sustenance from the material realm. Essentially starving or rendering the Chaos Gods weak enough to pose little or less of a threat to humanity. Thanks for reading and enjoy the lore of Warhammer 40K!

@@obadiahvonhammerstein4553 Your theory is not bad but is flawed,there is a tech to restore a planet to habitability but it was lost during the dark age of technology,the tau have it however should it come into the Imperium's possesion i might or not change the "last resort" policy.

Exterminatus isn't blowing up the planet and considering the warp storm, it would be a waste of resources. Cyclone torpedoes aren't grow on trees.
@PsychoticSorcerer6663 жыл бұрын
@@xxlCortez I forgot all about this comment. I was being hyperbolic, as I know that Exterminatuses usually just result in a planet rendered uninhabitable. As for the part about Cyclone torpedoes not being used lightly, tell that to Gabriel Angelos, the Ordo Malleus that glassed Typhon, and Lord Inquisitor Kryptman (though Kryptman probably had the best reason for doing what he did).

Salamanders? they WERE dark skinned because Nocturne is pretty much a planet-wide volcano...Then Ward came along retconning anything and everything, claiming that the Salamanders skin colour is a genetic flaw, rather than the fact that they only recruit from Nocturne. This probably makes no sense.
@greypilgrim2286 жыл бұрын
Actually, not to agree with the Arch Heretic Ward (believe me, as a member of the XIII th Legion I'd like nothing more than to kill him with my bare Astartes hands) but it makes perfect sense. In the Horus Heresy series it's hinted at that the Emperor didn't create each Primarch, and it's eventual Legion with random traits. How is it that Lemus Russ (who's DNA is fused with that of canine DNA) just so happened to land on Fenris, which was perfect for his biology (and the biology of all Fenrisians to be implanted, since all Fenrisians have wolf DNA in their genes), or Vulkan who has the genetic flaw you mentioned, landed on a volcanic world where all the inhabitants are dark skinned and hence are perfect for implantation into the XVIII th? Salamanders wouldn't naturally be black as they were before their implantation, because they have been changed by Vulcan's geneseed. Likewise Vulkan is not naturally black because he was made from the Emperor's (beloved by all) DNA, spliced, cut and changed as it was in whatever form to create Vulkan. The Emperor (beloved by all) foresaw certain events and took steps to control them, he couldn't know exactly how they'd pan out in certain places, but he knew how he may manipulate them for his own gain. Had the chaos gods not spirited the Primarchs away, it may have been that the Emperor (beloved by all) would have allowed the Primarchs to grow up on earth bonding with one another and complementing each others fighting styles, almost like real sons, and then given them command of their respective worlds to recruit from and rule over anyway (said worlds being perfect to create the particular Legion and fighting style he wanted).

werewolf9205 is correct, Khaine is referred to as the bloody handed god because of his murder of the ancient Eldar hero Eldanesh. He was cursed to forever have bloody hands because of this. Although there are some who believe Khaine is an aspect of Khorne.

Khorne did fight Slaanesh for Khaine, and won; it was Khorne who smashed Khaine into millions of fragments. In much the same way, Nurgle got possession of Isha, the Eldar goddess of healing, after hearing her cries for help and rescuing her from Slaanesh. Nurgle seems to genuinely love Isha, but unfortunately shows her affection the only way he knows how to - by testing his diseases on her.

@Duckgiz49 in dawn of war 2 gabriel holds himself responcible for releasing the Malladictum when in actual fact it was the inquisitor who ordered him to do it. so all the shit that goes down from this game onward in the series is the inquistior's fault.
@tommycat19936 жыл бұрын
This is an old comment but allow me to reply. It is Gabriel's fault truly, if he pulled out his troops as inquisitor Toth commanded. The Eldar could have their time to erase any trace leading to the Maledictum plus the Warp storm . The demon even said that as Gabriel led his chapter on more skirmishes, more blood was spilled and enhanced the demon's strenghth, which destroyed the stone wouldn't kill it but gave it freedom
@czechpatriot22306 жыл бұрын
It was an Eldar fault.
@SpicyyChimken5 жыл бұрын
@@tommycat1993 I truly believe that the release of the daemon was collectively everyone's fault. I believe that the Inquisitor knew more than he was willing to share and that if he was more straightforward and honest with Gabriel and the SM Chapter they would understand the consequences of staying and partaking in the mess that happened and most likely would have left Tartarus with a bit more convincing involved. The Eldar as well seem to always be speaking in 'riddles' as said by Gabriel so it was partly their fault as well. Combining the fact that the Inquisitor and Gabriel were at odds from the very beginning, the betrayal of Isador and just overall tomfuckery going around Tartarus, I do believe it was collectively everyone's fault, it just so happens Gabriel was the one who hit the final nail in the coffin and released the daemon

@greypilgrim2286 жыл бұрын
I call bullshit, you're reading that trash CS Goto again aren't you......naughty naughty!! (wags finger) a) Toth is an inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus and commands grey knights, do you honestly think he'd be a fucking daemon when they screen their knights and inquisitors so thoroughly? b) Toth actively begs Gabriel to leave at every opportunity so as to trap the Eldar and chaos in the warp storm on Tartarus, and prevent more Imperial blood shed and any possible sacrifices to the daemon. c) The daemon in the stone was a deamon of Khorne, TRAPPED IN THE STONE, do you think if it was possessing Toth or was Toth, it could have helped Sindri to ascend before claiming his soul too? And why then if it was Toth and was released from the stone, did it not just then turn Toth into a daemon prince right there and then. Why wait until it latched onto the Blood Ravens Chief Librarian and Chapter Master, who mark it, was already corrupted and possessed by the voice of Ulkair the great unclean one? d) When we see the Inquisitor model Toth again in the end cutscene of Dark Crusade (Blood Raven ending) this is likely just a generic model used to show the Inquisition, since Relic probably couldn't be bothered to render another model, so it's probably not Toth himself. Oh ye that's right, Goto never fucking thinks things through does he, in regards to other mediums that have gone over the same thing. I'll take the game version as cannon and leave the books in the dumpster where they belong thankyou, along with DOW3 which must never be spoken of again for it's heresy!
