Still after 23 years this episode still makes me swoon, I still know every dialoge. I really love love love Pacey and Joey. BTW in that time we called ourselves P/J ers vs the D/J ers we weren´t exactly creative in the messagge boards

This episode is one of the most iconic paceyjoey episodes. It has all the good stuff you want in a ship. Angst, jealousy, pining, denial, and then finally pay-off. In the past couple of episodes, we’ve seen Joey confused about her feelings for Pacey but we haven’t really seen her grapple with them after she’s realized that she feels *something*. It’s obvious that she wants to spend time with him but can’t bring herself to because she’s afraid. Aunt Gwen really annoyed me like girl get out of these children’s business please 😭😭. I also found it funny that all her attempts to get Joey back with Dawson only pushed her towards Pacey. Almost every scene between Pacey and Joey made me scream. The way he looked at her when he woke up next her. The way she was able to sense him standing next to her while she was staring at the painting of her and Dawson (it reminds me of a diary entry that they released between season 3 and 4 of the show where Joey talked about how she got goosebumps every time Pacey was near). “We’re supposed to have our own history” is so beautiful because everyone seems to forget that Pacey and Joey have known each other just as long as Dawson and Joey have. I love how this episode subtly tells us this by also having Aunt Gwen bring up Pacey and Joey as kids. Joey saying that Pacey makes her feel alive, literally comparing her relationship to him to a relationship between two married people. Like she’s down bad 💀. Pacey and Joey’s talk after their kiss makes me feral in almost every way. It perfectly shows how Pacey challenges Joey in a way that no one else does. He knows what he wants and he needs her to show him how she feels so he tells her. Him telling her that he couldn’t keep kissing her making her realize that she really does want to keep kissing him so she does. Like FINALLY! I screamed at me tv, I’m being so fr. Whoever made the score of this show deserves actual fucking awards. A slower, acoustic version of Daydream Believer specifically recorded for that Pacey/Joey scene was brilliant because it juxtaposes Pacey/Joey to Dawson/Joey in the best way. Dawson and Joey’s Daydream Believer is jovial, childish, and nostalgic. A lot like their relationship. They have so much history and they keep wanting to force romantic feelings for each other when they’re dynamic is better as friends. Pacey and Joey’s Daydream Believer was soulful and emotional, it also just sounded more natural and smooth. Pacey and Joey also have this long history but because they haven’t been as close as Joey and Dawson and they didn’t get along for a while, they’ve never really thought too much of the other. But, when they did spend one-on-one time with each other, they’re feelings developed naturally, which they tried to force away and brush off as some “hormonal glitch”. But that’s not how these type of feelings work. Pacey and Joey both think that Dawson is who she’s “meant to be with” and so they keep trying to force themselves and their feelings into these boxes. What they only have just started to understand is that it’s Dawson and Joey who have been forcing their feelings into romantic boxes while Pacey and Joey have them naturally.

Henry is one of those supposed to be guy guys in old shows or movies, like Mouth in OTH and they are winning babies that are like 'oh, nobody wants me because i'm too good of a guy, why don't woman want to sleep with me if i treat them well? It must be because they like bad guys and i'm such a nice gentle human being' i hate that. Nobody owns you sex, and if someone is not attracted to you, it is not. Sometimes it happens or it doesn't. Period. I hate, hate, hateeeeeeeeee this type of guys because they are really misogonistic and mean and cruel when they are rejected. So, no, you are not a good human being, you are just a winning male with toxic masculinity that believes that because you treat a female well, they own you sex, and when they reject you, you inmediatly stop that act and be the biggest douche ever

The aunt is annoying asf, the ship of Dawson and Joey it is awfull and forced and i hate it so much. I don't even like them as friends, sorry. I love, love, loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the scenes Pacey and Joey shared on this episode, THEY ALL WERE PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL AND SO, SO, SO ROMANTIC, MY SHIP RIGHT THERE. They have so much in common with Delena (that is my favorite ship of all the time) like the writers are forcing this st*pid idea of Dawson and Joey are meant to be like with Elena and Stefan, even when both girls (Elena and Joey) want the other guy, it annoys me till no end

Guys guys pls! Calm down and hear what Aunt Gwen means~~~ She’s saying, yeah fine, love who u will, but inform that pivotal person between y’all, then continue on. Cuz C’mon, if today Pacey loved any rando girl, he’d b all up in Dawson like Yo, guess wut amazing girl I got involved with this time. And if Joey were w any other guy, she’d let Dawson know, too, just like AJ 🙄😆 But today they CHOOSE to keep Dawson blind cuz of the intricate history them 3 have. That’s what needs to b aired out here. Aunt Gwen is 100% for Pacey Joey. But Aunt Gwen is also for doing it properly. No mind games, no under the table shiz.

You're wrong. The aunt does not encourage Dawson to be with Joey again. She encourages him to reconnect with who he really is. To what is truly authentic in him. And at this point, the most natural thing for Dawson is to believe in Joey. That's why she offers him the painting. And this gesture is all the stronger because the aunt knows that Joey has feelings for Pacey. But that's not what's important. What is important is that he learns to rediscover faith, even if it means making mistakes.

Maybe it looks like Pacey was asking too much from Joey in only one night, but i don't think so, he was just trying to see if there was anything there, if Joey really had feelings for him or not, he didn't expected to start dating her soon or anything, but he was "forcing" her to be honest with him, something she hadn't till that momemt, with the exeption of "it made me feel alive" statement.

"The point is not how I feel, it's how you feel."-This is why Pacey will always win. Every time. And I agree...the aunt is awful. I don't understand why she's guilt tripping this girl for moving on when she hasn't been around at all. But that's the worst theme of this show...everyone is always worried about Dawson's feelings/wants for some reason over anyone else's.

I do not really agree. It's not that everyone cares about Dawson's feelings more than another. Everyone worries about Dawson's feelings when it comes to Joey. And the reverse is also true. Everyone worries about Joey's feelings when it comes to Dawson. One of the themes of the series is the difficulty of growing up. And at the heart of that is Dawson and Joey's relationship. And the close bonds between them are as much a strength as a weakness, as the feelings they have for each other sometimes prevent them from growing. And this pattern runs throughout the series: when Joey pushes forward, Dawson panics and closes in on her. And when Dawson steps forward, Joey panics and closes in on him. That's why even if their relationship is sometimes boring, it remains interesting because it symbolizes the message of the series well: to grow, sometimes, you have to know how to detach yourself from what you loved. In this sense, I would have liked the series to end with season 4 and the episode "Coda". Because in this episode, each character must give up something of themselves and say goodbye to their childhood.

I hate how they always talk like Joey is of Dawson's pertenence and like she always will be, they have not been together, not even as friends in a f*cking long time and now he wants to be with her out of nowhere and thinks that she will be back with nothing to say about. Everyone talking about Joey and Dawson annoy me in this show because they are not epic, they are not meant to be, nobody feels it and nobody cares, we could easily live without this f forced chemistry without an inch of chemistry

My all time favorite Dawson’s Creek scene I think in the whole series. Plus the Mary Beth Maziarz cover of Daydream Believer in the background, Joey and Dawson’s karaoke song😂 That cover is beautiful in that moment.
