On my way to Colorado for a mule deer tag I passed a guy in a truck with what I thought were elk antlers in kansas (near fort Riley where elk are) and it turned out to be the biggest white tail buck I’ve ever ever laid my eyes on. Gave the guy a honk and a thumbs up as I passed him. That thing was an absolute unit. Congrats to him.

I haven't been deer hunting but plenty of people I know have been. Actually, where I grew up, kids got a day off (and still do) of school for the first day of deer season lmao. But since watching Steven I've kinda gotten a bit of an interest in hunting and would like to try it now.

Try and get with someone who really knows how to hunt, the venerable whitetail deer. Spend time, lots of time with that person, and learn as much that you can. I'm not speaking of the windbag types, rather, someone who is modest, but has paid his dues. Another tip is to read some of the books of the old timers, and buy their CD's. If you want to become a truly good deer hunter, you have to become obsessed. Last of all, don't be discouraged, if you strike out your first or second year. Keep plugging away, and things will pop for you.

Gun opener in the southern zone of NY is typically the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The college i went to has the entire week of Thanksgiving off, but they tried to change it to add class on Monday and Tuesday. The people trying to make the change were told they clearly didn't know their students and that no one would miss opening day for two days of classes

Lol where my camp hunts whitetails in Ontario our 8 pointers are the size of does in this video. With narrow, tucked, small racks. No corn or beans for my guys to feed. Going to need a handicap on the score 2 mile drags through thick brush then load into a boat and back to camp. Would be nice to hunt big corn brutes like the video, but I wouldn't trade my camp for it full-time

You didn't know the deer hunting was good in Minnesota?! You living under a rock?! Yeah, mature deer can be a struggle to find and take a little more luck and determination to put in the dirt, which isn't helped by a lot poor hunting practices up here, but we definitely produce some world class bucks and its a shame Minnesota is so often overlooked for its whitetail potential.
