The shot at the end was also at little Virginia lake the following day. We had gone to fish mammoth lakes (Mary and George) but they were very slow for us as well so we went back to Virginia lakes

I'll be going up there this weekend. What kind of lures/jigs are you using? Great video btw!
@socaltroutcartel5745 жыл бұрын
We were using 1/32 oz mini jigs from ultralight heavyweights. Yellow/white or just plain white were doing best for us. You can find their jigs at Reagan’s in Bishop or Ernies tackle I believe also carries them in June lake loop. Good luck!

What does he mean by tagged?
@socaltroutcartel5745 жыл бұрын
Bfef tag, Bridgeport fish enhancement foundation puts trophy sized tagged fish in their local waters. When caught they can be taken to Kens Sport in Bridgeport and you receive a free entry to a derby the following year.

Please tell me you kept that fish ate it and it was delicious. Why would you handle a fish like that if you're not going to keep it? As long as you get the pic? I hope that wasn't yours floating on the surface smh. Trout are super fragile especially stockers. You're an angler you know these things. I wouldn't say anything but people are watching this and learning from you so you are held up to a higher standard. I mean did you guys even follow the rules of the lake like using no fluorocarbon, etc? I'm a fan and you're one heck of an angler but please realize people look up to and are learning from you. Give others an opportunity to experience what you did catching a beauty like that especially if you're not going to take it home. Even if it swims off that fish is good as dead being handled like that. Such a waste.

The fish was kept 🤙🏼 That floating fish must have been there for days, it was bloated and everything.

@@socaltroutcartel574 Glad to hear that! I have friends and family that's been going there for over 30 years mainly staying at the Virginia Lakes resort run by the same amazing couple John and Carolyn the whole time we've been going there so that place has a special spot in my heart. As you know the lakes are open to the public and over the years more and more ignorant people have been ruining the beauty of that place. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people guthook a trout using a treble with powerbait spending mins to unhook it and letting it go thinking it'll make it or letting it flop around on the ground getting covered with dirt and letting them go because they were too small or whatever and they all wind up dead. Main reason being they didn't know that trouts were so fragile. So ignorance is not bliss and I had to make a comment to draw attention to this fact. I won't even mention all the line and trash people leave now days. It's really sad and it's getting worse not better. I know you know about handling the fish properly when I see you wet your hands etc. but when you don't mention you kept the fish or show you did it's easy to think you let it go like the others and like I said there are many people watching these vids learning from you and I don't want them to think it's ok. These spots are gems unlike the crappy lakes we have in socal and they need to be treasured and taken care of. If people feel I'm overexaggerating I can see why everything is getting worse. Anyways hope you keep catching the bigguns. Tight lines!

Daniel Ham since when was there a rule that said no fluorocarbon?
@danielham29065 жыл бұрын
@@austinbrown6944 John and Carolyn have requested it from as far back as I can remember. Now can they enforce such a thing..Probably not but they do request it because it doesn't break down like mono. They do mention it as a note to fly fishermen using fluoro tippets on their website but even when not fly fishing we have been told. If you use light enough line it really doesn't make that much of a difference like 2lb line max 4lb so we have no problem honoring their request. If you see all the discarded line that's left over the years you'll see why they request it. It's their livelihood they love fishing and they do everything to preserve the natural beauty of that whole place...10 lakes total.
