Would it have been better with no music or just better music? I am new to this still. Some people seem to like music and some don’t....so I never know which way to go.

@@montanamountainriders3388 ...Usually people watching these kind of videos...especially anything with a turbo or supercharger in your case want to be able to hear the engine and “boost noises”. Wasn’t trying to be a dick. Maybe even just very faint music if your going to use it and maybe in and out depending on engine noise. I know that’s a lot to ask, but that would be my take anyways. Coming from the world of boosted sleds, that seems to be what everyone wants to hear. Good work! Looks like some great riding, what area?

Hey nice video and looks like a great set up. Have you ever ridden any late model turbod sleds? I've never ridden or even ridden with someone with a supercharger. I'm big fan of the technical boondocking so I'm super intrigued by the supercharger because of the lowend hit (no turbo lag). Anyways, any comparison from you if you've ridden turbos would be great.
@montanamountainriders33884 жыл бұрын
natbro30 yes I have, and you pretty much nailed it with the turbo lag issue. Yes a supercharger is much more expensive but immediate power to whip the sled around without any hesitation or lag is worth it my opinion. Turbos are still fun and are a more “affordable” option than the supercharger but you just have to keep into it with the turbo to keep it spooled so you don’t get the lag. In technical situations if you hesitate in the slightest you could get a lag and then it’s trench city. I’d say if your a pin it wide open all the time kinda guy a turbo would probably suit you just fine just keep it spooled and your fine. But if you go the charger way you get more time to pick and choose lines, it’s more aggressive at the bottom, and you might be spending more time burping the throttle at low end because it offers so much torque.

@@montanamountainriders3388 Between me and all my buddies in my group we've had 6 different turbod Axys 800s over the last 4-5 seasons. 5 out of the six have been the Boondocker Sidekicks. So yeah I know exactly what your saying with how to ride the turbod sled. There is for sure a learning curve with it. In almost every thread or video of supercharged sleds someone (usually multiple people) brings up the topic of price and say that the Supercharger is so much more expensive than a turbo. I actually don't agree with that unless you're NOT comparing Apples to Apples. For example, the BD sidekick or the new Base BD agility kit only produces about 175-180 HP. Any more than that and the kit just won't handle it. If you want to produce 200+ HP from a turbo you must have an intercooler, bigger injectors, and you must run a good mix of racefuel/av gas or you will detonate and eventually grenade a motor. Once you start to add in those other things to a turbo kit in order to run the same HP numbers that the SC claims to run you're looking at the price tag that is probably over $7k. in other words, if you're comparing apples to apples, the price point is actually on par as far as I can tell. The only thing for me is that I've never ridden with someone that has a Supercharger so I'm not sure how "dialed-in" the kit really is. The fuel mapping is so critical and unless it's near perfect it's tough to really ride it. So, I wonder just how dialed in the SC kit is (especially for the Axys) and if it really can run 225 HP on pump gas like they say. If all of that is a yes than I'd probably do a SC cause I'd have to run a top level turbo kit with the intercooler etc along with race fuel at 11 lbs of boost to get the same output. That's gonna be pretty much the same price point and you'd still have the turbo lag. Anyways, that's the reason for my question.... sorry, I know that's a long reply:)

Hows fuel economy , I have a turbo 19 alpha and was thinking maybe to switch but I like my turbo for power and I use same fuel as a stock sled

Austin Nelson yeah the charger only gets 4 miles to the gallon...we always carry gas cans, and we always need them lol

Tyson Boser they sure are, we figure after parts and labor including a belt drive we’ve spent about $9,000 on the supercharger setup for this sled.

@@montanamountainriders3388 my pockets aren’t even close to that deep. I assume you’re talking USD as well. I’m from Canada so add that up. I’m tempted to try a pipe, tune and clutching from either speedwerx or BMP on my 2020 alpha. Any experience running stage kits?

@@boser1212 Totally get that, and yes that is in USD. Freshies Built here in Seeley Lake, MT hooked us up and he has TONS of experience with stage kits, turbos and superchargers, I am sure he could answer any questions you have. We don't have any first hand experience with stage kits, ours were all stockers until we added the supercharger.
