Day 1 Part 1, N. Yorkshire, Trails and Tracks 09/11/24

Part 1 of a 4x4 adventure round North Yorkshire. This episode, the North Yorkshire Moors of Cleveland, featuring Rudland Rigg, the longest lane in England.

Pre 2018, the steps on Rudland Rig were a challenge to get down, never mind get up. Ingleby bank could also be testing, more so getting up than getting down. There was a huge trench on the right hand side (going up) that claimed many a vehicle (especially in Winter). The stretch between the top of Ingleby and the steps was axle twisters all the way. Both are easy since they were repaired in March 2018. Coleson banks was closed for years - it re-opened just before Rudland Rigg was repaired. Coleson Bank (also known as Battersby) could only be done down hill, and even then it was guaranteed damage would occur before the lane was repaired and re-opened. Only the bravest (or those who didn't care about their vehicle) would attempt Battersby.
