Trees do grow back if you leave the stump. Don't worry about placing any buildable, they can be moved after built (while holding hammer use the T key) it shows on the HUD what keys to use.

Inari (Inari Ōkami) is a Shinto god. If you're interested there is a fair reading of Inari at Wikipedia. It's short and not complete, but good enough.
