I, too, have tried to read the CCC since it first came out, and I did get pieces of it, but now, at age almost 73, I am so receptive to it and so very grateful that Fr. Mike is spoon-feeding us this awesome document of our Holy Church, and oh, how I thank and bless Saint Pope John Paul II for this, without him, we would not have the CCC. And I thank God for every person who worked on it, from the writers to the printers and distributors. Every one, and the teachers. Thank you, Fr. Mike.

Isn’t that the truth! I try to be actively aware & receptive at every part of the mass now. In today’s reading from St. Faustina’s Diary Jesus laments that He pours out graces every time someone receives Holy Communion, yet so many just ignore those graces & don’t accept them. I make an effort now to pray when I receive to accept all the graces Jesus wants to give me & to use them for the Glory of God.

​@@TrixRN Thank you. I reciprocate, in fact every day, though I admit sometimes it is Online Spiritual Adoration with the intent of going in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Sometimes I am unable to attend mass, which bothers me a great deal, but alas, I have found a parish that offers mass at a later time should I not be able to attend earlier. This same parish makes confession much more available than other parishes. I think it must be small(?) but I know the priest that is there now and the one that is going to be transferred there in July. I am just over the moon about it. 24 hour Eucharistic Adoration is only available one day a week in the other parishes I attend. Lol they laugh at me, okay where are you going to Mass this time? Wherever the Lord leads me is always my answer 🙏♥️🙏

@@KB_2161 I wish I could find a parish within driving distance that offered confession more frequently. Ours has 2 priests & offers it between 4:30-5:15 on Saturday sometimes 10:00-11:00 AM too & at 6:15-7:00 PM on Tuesday for a parish of 7000 families. The lines get really long & are cut short if Father has to say Mass. In the summer only one priest hears confessions. I’ve been asked to only go once a month. Our archdiocese has its ordination mass next week; we’ll probably get one of the new priests for 3 years, as we’re supposed to have 3 priests.

CCC 1102 "By the saving word of God, faith . . . is nourished in the hearts of believers. By this faith then the congregation of the faithful begins and grows."21 The proclamation does not stop with a teaching; it elicits the response of faith as consent and commitment, directed at the covenant between God and his people. Once again it is the Holy Spirit who gives the grace of faith, strengthens it and makes it grow in the community. the liturgical assembly is first of all a communion in faith.

We make the sign of the Cross upon our forehead, our lips and over our hearts. It is to say I will guard the gosple reading in my mind, profess it with my mouth and store it my heart, respectively. We are to act upon the readings of the day not just listen with one ear and out the other. Part of the priest's vocation is to enlighten us through the readings. I spend time before the Mass praying the daily Rosary, my intentions for the living and deceased in my life and always praying for the Mass. Father be in this Mass. Be with the celebrants and concelebrants that they perform their duties in a manner pleasingly to You. May Your Word be read and heard and put to action by Your parishioners. Be with Father in his homily that we receive more insight and understanding into Your Word. Be especially in our gifts of bread and wine that they become the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus. Let no one block the grace You so richly want to bestow on us and let no one reap condemnation by partaking in Your Sacrament; through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Father Mike, to your point of hearing God's Word explained-- my son finds it funny when, sitting in Mass, that I'll often let out a slightly audible "ohhhhhh!? cool" comment or something similar, after the Priest says something simple during his Homily to bring alive the readings. It's an "ah ha!" moment that makes me think "gee, how many times have I heard this Scripture passage and didn't really understand it or look at it in such a profound way". Day 149 takeaways: The Holy Spirit recalls the Mystery of Christ. The Holy Spirit is the one who inspires the Word of God. God’s word is effective, sharper than any two-edged sword. It is not only proclaimed but also explained during Mass. But for this to be effective, we have to be active listeners. When we hear God’s word, it should elicit a consent and commitment. We can not remain indifferent nor argumentative, although it is okay to question. If we do question it must be with a willingness of correction. It’s not about WHO’S right, but WHAT’S right (truth). We need to reflect on, “God, what are you asking me to do? Speak Lord, your servant is listening.” The Liturgy of the Mass is so much more than a remembrance or a re-enactment. The Holy Spirit makes the Liturgy present in the here and now. This is called ANAMNESIS.
