Very interesting about the cows , a great point on keeping the sheds utilized and your ability to have a good size of batch to offer for sale.

So when their fat is it to the factory they go? They are a flying trade at the moment, is it so much per day ye charge the farmers then?
@patcollins863813 күн бұрын
@PatrickOsullivan-v1q Yes, we have a pricing structure, and part of it is a price per head per day
@PatrickOsullivan-v1q13 күн бұрын
V interesting i didn't know this was a thing, the factory's are not very fair to farmers that's why we go to the mart, what are the likes of them cows making atm 5,50 or so a kg?
@patcollins863813 күн бұрын
@PatrickOsullivan-v1q yes about that. I've seen this model used around the world and it works really well. It has proved very popular scence I have started this part of our business. It works well on a crops farm as we have the area for nitrates

Pat, do you agree a price per day to contract feed each animal and the farmer gets the cheque from the factory? In other words if the price of beef goes up or down it wont impact what you get from it?
@patcollins863814 күн бұрын
Basically yes

The bulls with the green spray on their head, are they going out because they are the lightest and will do least damage to the ground or they have the lowest daily gain and therefore the current feed or the conditions doesnt suit them?
@patcollins863814 күн бұрын
Both but more so, the latter. Hopefully, their dlg will improve at grass

We are finishing our empty dairy cows this year because we are locked up with TB and are feeding maize beet and a high maize finisher ! I am just curious as to what you are feeding and how much of each item?

I'm a feedlot, so I can take in cattle from restricted herds also.

We’re in the same boat, had the cubicles to finish them this year but normally wouldn’t. Just getting silage and maize meal. Would definitely be interested in using you depending on the year👍🏼
