This is day 18 of my journey to get to a rating of 2100 on chess.com. I thoroughly enjoyed 15+10 again, but IDK... I know I shouldn't accuse people of cheating, but my alarms are all tingling. Anyway, he played phenomenally.
Lots to improve on from my end.
So far on this video series to 2100:
16 wins 3 draws 11 losses

I was hoping you’d get the chance to sac on h3 - maybe next time! Before you go for the sac, I’d get your knight to f8 and rook to e8. This is important because (depending on the opponent’s position), the knight jumping to h4 and/or the rook lifting to e4 and then sliding to g4 often results in checkmate. Because of this, I would get to f8 and e8 before you even develop your light-squared bishop.

Yes.. I knew I needed to get the knight to f8, I just didn't quite see the opportunity this game, although I did have one slightly later. Yes... The e8 rook can often sac!

I am 1800 myself and the only part of my caro kann repetoire I am still unsure about is the tartakower…it just feels wrong to limit my own options right from the opening…not wanting to trade pieces and avoid the endgame…

My advice would be to stick with 15/10. Its always better to outplay opponent in position than on the clock- it will help you in tournament play. You may run to a cheater once in a while, but thats internet chess in any time control. Subbed - I am somewhere around your rating (2000 on lichess) enjoying your journey. Keep it up. Your ability to stay optimistic in almost any position is something to aspire for :D

Yeah idk man. I'm pretty confident a not cheating good player would just look at Nh6+ after the Rook sac, see that it works and be happy with a won position. Relying on Rxf5 is crazy and i frankly didn't see that until it was on the board, when Nh6+ was pretty much a no brainer... Hope they do end up banning him if he actually cheated so you get your points back.

I don't think he was cheating at all - just looking at percentage is not the key. The day before yesterday I played 95% and I'm rated well below you. In that game my opponent gave me a chance early on, which made it possible. You have your opponents a chance by not playing Nd7 - Nf8. Essentially you were playing two pieces down while your opponents was able to get all of their pieces into the game. That's the takeaway: Nd7 - Nf8 and then you can decide where it should go next. That gets your pieces into the game and allows you to connect your Rooks. Playing 8 points down in material is too much of an edge to give to people at your level.

I was watching a vid recently on 'how to spot a cheater' and someone having a brand new account like that and all those 90% plus games is a total red flag. That being said, just one thing - In the tartakower variant, I dunno if you need to go for the standard and easily broken pin on the knight. If you capture the knight, that loses you the bishop pair and if you don't and retreat it to h5 I don't think that helps you attack on the kingside and it seems to just get you jammed in and vunerable to that knight. You might consider something like this instead - kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3y0eJKYo96om9k It just seems more solid. Also just one more thing, if you wanted to show 2 games a video, you could possibly consider editing out some of your opponent's thinking time (aka the several minutes he spent consulting stockfish during your game). As always, best of luck!
@Blunder_Man
@Blunder_Man 8 күн бұрын
I'm open to that, and I do occasionally edit it out when I'm not talking especially, thanks for the feedback!
@GeorgeSmyth
@GeorgeSmyth 7 күн бұрын
But what if you are a fairly strong player who starts an account? Wouldn't your first dozen or so games be mostly winning with a healthy percentage? All of this focus on cheaters is a distraction - I suggest simply playing your best and move on after a loss. If losing 5 points ELO takes away the joy of playing then it's probably best to find something else to do.

I think after an account reaches 1000s or even less you should have to submit an ID to verify who you are. Time for common sense reform.
