Answer of Q 23 - a) 35 SOLUTION: at first, LCM of ( 12.5, 25 )=25 pipe A fills 1 unit in=2 hours pipe B fills 1 unit in=1 hour pipe (A+B) fills 1 unit in=25/3 hour Now, pipe (A+B+Leakage) takes 1 hour 40 minutes more than pipe (A+B) Thus, Pipe (A+B+Leakage) takes {(25/3)+1 hour 40mins}=10 hours Now, LCM of ( 12.5 , 25 , 10 )=50 Pipe A fills 1 unit in=4 hours Pipe B fills 1 unit in=2 hours Pipe (A+B+Leakage) fills 1 unit in=5 hours Thus, Leakage empties the filled tank in (4+2-5)=1 hour Now finding out leak emptying the 70% of the tank in= 70% x (50/1)=35 hours.
