The added stress of maintaining a streak that's for all practical purposes all in ones head, that doesn't really matter, but still matters ;) The most important part though is one *project* each day in october, if the vids are one day off... still a streak, even with a gap :)
@EvanMonsma7 күн бұрын
Yup, it doesnt matter but also if I let it go once then I'll really let it go later. Its all mind games keeping myself in the flow :)
@AndreSjoberg7 күн бұрын
@@EvanMonsma for sure, letting go is no option at all, the flow is essential :)

I like being a "night shift" viewer. don't worry about when it uploads, as long as it's before midnight!

i remember a lot of people really liked the desk clean up video with the power extension boxes, mundane stuff is chill :) although i think we all do want to see what's interesting to you too ofc. i was gonna do a joke about you being a test-tube-creature or a homonculus or something but idk if it was sitting right

Also, on a sidenote: Forcing oneself to do shit often, like daily, makes it so much easier to focus on doing things fast, and find fast, yet good, solutions for problems, and making the process more efficient, leading to faster turnarounds - I experience the same on my TV Props projects I do for TV commercials - they are usually *way* too short on deadlines, calling me on a monday or tuesday for a prop that's needed on wednesday by noon for a shoot (and knowing how much time they usually use on planning all the *other* bits of a production like this, like the shots they need, it still boggles the mind how lazy and short sighted they are when it comes to planning what is actually needed *in* the shots they have planned weeks in advance for approval from the client). But those projects are the ones where I *have* to cut corners, and where I do learn the most in terms of efficient building, problem solving and "letting things go" because nobody is going to care about the detail I might spend a day on if the deadline was longer :)

Totally agree. I got so much faster at editing going weekly so I'm sure this is only gonna improve the process more

@@EvanMonsma It’s almost like magic :) Who would have thought practice actually improves on things ;) The other thing I’ve noticed on my own video making is that I’m getting better at «shooting for the edit», and better at shooting stuff in sequences that makes sense for editing faster even when doing a couple of long project takes and doing just fast and short b-roll as I go to sprinkle on top, it’s quite fun when things suddenly become less bogged down with friction :)

First order of business. What's that amazingly tall sturdy looking tripod behind you? I've been looking for one exactly like that for ages. Second. For me I think never breaking the streak of making daily videos for a month was unrealistic last year. I was editing on a phone in the beginning, and when I did get a computer, it took time to get past resolve's learning curve. I never gave up though. Yesterday I posted #27 of the original planned 27 last october, only 2 days before the one year anniversary of that first video being recorded. It's been a wild ride since then, but comparing those two videos, it's easy to see just how much I've grown in video making from this challenge. Of course, now I have some better equipment, namely dedicated mics and a bright aperture prime lens, but more than that I've learned to use my camera for what it can do, and stopped caring about it's limitations. Now it's an extension of me, and that's far more important than the technical ability of the camera. Now for season two. If the first was about routine and learning the basics, the second will be about making, now that I know how to make.
