This lesson is so true. I am a convert from Judaism. I was converted suddenly, without warning, by a dream. In an instant, I realized, by the grace of God, that Jesus is real, that He has all the power and all the love, and that He was calling me. I told Jesus, "I'm yours body and soul, do whatever You want with me." I knew I could trust Him. But I could see the mess I had made in my life with so many bad decisions, so I knew for sure that I couldn't trust myself. I asked the Lord to make all my decisions for me from then on. I was constantly asking Him, "What should I do?" and I asked for signs, because at that time I didn't know how to be led by the Holy Spirit. I have a lot of stories about the crazy signs I asked for, and how the Lord granted all my requests, because that was how He was guiding me. All I wanted was to do His Will, not my own. Of course, I stopped asking for signs a long time ago. I've been Catholic now for over thirty years, and so grateful to God for His continued guidance, His Mercy, and His Love. I know myself, how moody and fickle I can be, but God is always trustworthy. Jesus, I trust in You.

Watching this before Christmas. When you speak of wealth. Sadly many people shop that TEMU to save a few dollars. They practice slave labor. I have never shopped TEMU and will not. I wish others would stop. But like today's reading. I cannot judge others. I try my best to shop small businesses year round.

December 17: "What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." James 4:14 The reality of the human experience is simple and perfect. We are here for a moment and then we are gone. The unwritten part of the experience is where the perfection lies: the dash. The dash of our existence is where we can create a mark on this world. How can I best use my dash? We can neither predict our future nor change our past. All we have is the present, which can best be managed through small, incremental actions over whatever time we are blessed with. Am I honoring God in how I treat others, how I react to challenges, how I support my loved ones, how I forgive those who've injured or wronged me, or even how I forgive myself? If God calls me to grace through His grace, I must willingly offer grace to the world. May I make the most of my dash so that when my loved ones remember me, they do so with a smile. Amen.

Day 351 Tuesday December 17th, 2024 Draw near to God Today’s readings are James 3-5, Colossians 1-2, and Proverbs 30:7-9. The raw unfiltered truth is that there is ONLY one true church founded by Jesus Christ. Now days religion has become like politics such as 44,000 different denominations which none of them is can claimed be founded by Christ Jesus. Only ONE true God. Only ONE true Church. Deo gratias. Lord I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof but only say The Word and my soul shall be healed. Amen. My Lord and my God. Praise The Lord O My Soul.

This has been a marvelous podcast series and I'm so grateful that you have included it on KZbin so I can read along with the text as I listen to Fr. Schmitz. But the one thing I REALLY wish had been done differently is to have omitted the "section titles" which are insertions and interpretations of editors and drastically interrupt the flow of thought of the sacred writers. I know the same can be said of the Chapter numbers but I don't find those as distracting.
@dona24949 ай бұрын
Fr. Schmitz you are phenomenal in your discipleship and sharing the gifts you have been given with the rest of us...I can not imagine the number of hearts you have brought to Jesus. This is my second time through the bible in a year and I had a question regarding one of your comments on this day...surrounding where you indicate the need to make sure when you buy something like clothing you needed to make sure wherever it was made was not contributing to unfairly withholding the wages of those who made those products. This makes perfect sense but I am wondering about the practicality of applying this in today's world where things literally come from all over the world and if we try to appy this to everything we consume (made by others, or even the products we buy to make our own "stuff")...seems like we'd spend an inordinate amount of time doing this...sorry of this is a stupid quesiton or notion...

December 19, 2023 Round Two Please, do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
