@29:17 he had a discovered attack, by pushing pawn to C5 ... he could have checked your king and then taken your queen ...

Interesting game Patrick. I feel you are really strong when queens are on the board and you are seeking mate. But in positions like this - 33:56 - where you are winning but where there is no mate any time soon, you struggle. The only strategy you seem to be aware of here is to try to swap off pieces. And that is what you are desperately trying to do. Often it does work. Unfortunately in this case your opponent defends well and you hang a piece (twice actually). I think you need to consider other ways to win. For example, in this position I would focus on pushing my queenside pawns and trying to win one of theirs to create a passed pawns. That sort of thinking is the next step for you.

stephen we have to work towards dissuading patrick from chess, not encouraging him. Lets move away from boring chess commentary. Lets move towards exciting life commentary!!!

@@radscorpion8 You really wrote that you want to dissuade a man from the game of chess? Are you gatekeeping a game that is thousands of years old? Get a grip dude. Maybe Patrick doesn't want to share details of his life with random people on the internet?

@@williamblake7386 It's a relative term strong, isn't it. The point I am making is that Patrick is stronger when queens are on the board and he is attacking with a checkmate in mind. And he is less strong when the queens are off the board and the route to victory is less clear.
@williamblake7386
@williamblake7386 23 сағат бұрын
@@stephenwestland942 I was joking, obviously, and you are correct about "relative", but the question how much stronger or weaker is still here. 1 mmr stronger is nothing, although it is technically stronger. All relative terms in chess could be translated into mmr. So i was curious what do you mean exactly.

4:26 Here you have an absolutely killer position out of the opening. You basically have a won game already. I'm not sure how many different people have said this, or how many times, but you have this habit of examining the first move that you see, sometimes going very deep into that move, but never looking at any other candidate moves. This is exactly what you did here. You saw exd6 (not hard to see) and never considered anything else. This is a fundamental error of reasoning and technique. Any strong player in this position will play Nd5 or Bxf4 in a bullet game. You might not see these moves so quickly, but in a rapid game you do not play the first thing that you see, you go through the possibilities that are available to you - ie. candidate moves. You even have more than one capture here, and yet you didn't even consider the second possible capture on f4. Until you learn to to think about the game adequately, you will not significantly improve. Again, I'm not sure how many times people have told you this, but I see no evidence that you've paid any attention, because you still have exactly the same habit.

this is why i say he needs to learn to consistently get 20+ in 3 minute puzzle rush... time control is pointless if you arent using it correctly.

This was the 1st game I saw Patrick outplaying his opponent up to the late middle game. Then didn't press the minor piece advantage enough. Tough loss but a lesson here for certain.

At this point I don't know if Patrick is secretly a 2000+ rated player purposely blundering to keep his elo relatively constant for 2 years, before surprising all of us, just for KZbin content.

Not sure how others feel, but saying thanks for the game and then continuing to play some moves feels very bad mannered to me. If I was your opponent I would feel like you are trying to get me to let my guard down and get a cheeky win after being "polite".
