Do you play this with a swung rhythm.. the music I have shows it that way but its a reel so I didn't think it would be ..?

Most Scottish and cape Breton style reels have a nice swing to them. Really, only Irish style has a very "straight forward" sort of "drive" to it. Of course it has its own unique rhythm, but I find Scottish music to have more funky syncopation and bow work. More percussive and swing, like you say.
