Day 8 | Jolly Buoy Island | Awareness on Corals and Reefs | Andaman Islands | How to go Jolly Buoy ?

This video is about Jolly Buoy Island, which is most famous for the Corals and Coral reefs in Andaman Islands. In this video I will also talk about awareness on Corals and Reefs. This island is well preserved by Andaman Tourism keeping in mind about the importance of Corals in our ecosystem. Around this island is the giant coral reefs which offers an amazing view if witnessed though glass bottom boat. There is nothing you can do on this island except for relaxing. The beach at this island is really serene and probable the cleanest beach in Andaman which offers you to experience white sand with blue and green shades of water. Visit this island only if you want to witness the corals and its reefs.
NOTE 1: This Island is well preserved by Andaman Tourism and plastics are banned. Even if you intend to carry plastic items like water bottles, then you need to pay Rs. 100 against each plastic item in the office which will be refunded to you once you are back from the island.
NOTE 2: This island is open only for 6 months in a year, please enquire before planning to visit this island

How to go Jolly Buoy :-
Cabs, autos are available till Mahatma National Marine Park at Wandoor Jetty. Then you can board a ferry from Wandoor jetty to reach Jolly Buoy Island

Usually it is from morning 8AM onwards and they return by 1 PM.

You need to visit Tourism Office which is near DC office in Port Blair. Snorkelling is not allowed anymore in Jolly Buoy. Only glass bottom boat ride you can do. Scuba diving is more about experience while jolly buoy is all about corals.

Usually, ferries leave in the morning. But you need to confirm this from their official website of private ferry, if you are planning from govt ferry then you can contact them directly over a phone call.

Hi, I am visiting in dec last week. I tried contacting my hotel for this jolly buoy island. They said that no boats are allowed since covid to jolly buoy island ( but i see many post from people and yours is also last year which is post covid ). He said that the island is open but he boats are not permitted. Do you have any contacts with whom i can confirm the same.

It was open when I went, and it would be open now, you can go to Andaman tourist centre directly rather than asking hotel management. The day you reach Port Blair, visit the tourist office, you need to book a day prior to your plan to Jolly Buoy. The office is very close to DC office.

I am glad that it cleared all your doubts. Wish you wonderful vacation :) You will find many economic hotels in Port Blair, like mentioned below, though I stayed in only Coral Inn 1. The Pearl 2. Coral Inn 3. Blue Bridge 4. Andaman Shores 5. The Lotus Home Aapko agar doubt hai toh latest SOP check karna andaman tourism ki website mei. The SOPs keep changing as per the situation. Most probably, yeh aapko wanha DC office jaakr hi pata chalega.
