The best explanation I've come across for beginners. You answered my implicit question as if you were reading my mind. Even the seemingly random quotes and scripture were what I needed to hear this morning. Thank you. Subscribed.

I just wanted to say that your pen is beautiful. I have been a collector or writing utensils for over 40 years and that is the reason why I am going to be stating a Zettelkasten because I would like to write about them. Many pen collectors get really frustrated because the whole thing is a very deep rabbit hole. There are so many manufactures, who then acquire other manufactures, the dates goes way back, some pens and pencils are meant for certain countries, etc. and on and on. When I try and research something most of the time I can't find any information and this includes modern instruments. I plan on using this system to put out pamphlets, books, etc. and give them to the pen community for free. Thank you for you video and I think you have done a wonderful job on your challenge, and I hope you will continue on.

Like this video. Makes more sense to me than any other I've watched. I've subscribed. Hope to see more. Do have a question though. I've been using an index card system like this for 20-plus years (learned in Germany) but haven't numbered anything (missing out on connections a lot). Just using topics, subtopics and subtopics. I don't keep quotes much. I've come up with, in the personal growth category (or personal development is what I call it) I've given all quotes in that area the same dedicated number with -1, 2, etc. after it. What do you think of that? If I have a thought from that quote it's a separate number with a source reference to that card or sometimes I've removed the quote card and written my thought on the reverse side and filed it under another number. What are your thoughts on this?

20+ YEARS! Awesome, I wish I'd started mine 20 years ago. Check out Day 12, as I mentioned in your other comment. Once I started focusing more on the info and less on the topics, and putting those thoughts closest to the existing thoughts, it took me to the next level. I put quotes next to the existing thoughts they most relate to, and I write my thoughts right with the quote, or I'll add another card before or after the quote. Hope this helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHO6gpJqn6iEg7s

I appreciate your video. Where did you get the clear containers and the black thing that holds all those containers? It looks very interesting.

Clear bins from Target. They will not hold 4x6 but if you're going to use 3x5 like I do, they are perfect. The shelf was custom made by a friend of mine from church.

What I've done thus far is create a mind map of the numbering system and after I'm happy with it I then create it in diagram/list form. Which is what I have printed (in plastic) at my ZK desk to help with the numbering system. I did this because I found myself changing the numbering system a few times and making a mess on the cards. Have you done something like this?

Welcome to the channel! I kept my digital mindmap (The Brain Software, which I still love) up to date when I first started this. After a while, I stopped when I started caring less about the categories and topics. The soft categories and organic growth mean so much more to me now. Check out Day 12: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHO6gpJqn6iEg7s as I talk about this a bit. Glad to have you here and I hope my content helps you on your journey.

Would you also consider digital option? Have you talked about that in another Video? Thanks.
@chadrickm5 ай бұрын
I have considered digital. I've made another video on why I've chosen analog. As a computer programmer and someone with ADHD I find digital more distracting and less tangible. If those are not stumbling blocks to others, digital might work well. For me that's not a good option.

@@chadrickm Thank you, I will look for that Video. I think I would try it if I was not so travel affine in the moment, but like I live it is just unworkable.

It's an old drafting table weight for holding down unrolled drafts. Has sentimental value for me as my dad got me a pretty serious drafting desk when I was in high school even though I was a very bad student in everything else.

I think using topics goes against the whole purpose of the system.

I think you have a point and talk about this in Day 12: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHO6gpJqn6iEg7s

Hello, Hope you are having a great day! Your KZbin content is so good. But there are lots of workspaces, which means need to update your video optimization. Like SEO-friendly video title selection, writing an attractive SEO-related description, and researching high-rank targeted keywords according to your niche to rank your video. It is not possible to rank the video without completing these things. By customizing these things, you will reach your goal in the YT journey. The SEO score is not good. That's why channel view subscribers are not encouraged. I Am A Professional Digital Marketer And Seo Specialist. Any need can knock me.

Thank you for the advice, I've recently started studying all this. There is a lot to learn and I'm kind of drinking from the firehose at the moment. Gradually building up a library of important stuff.
