Here's Another method To prove Root 2 is Irrational :- Let root 2 is Rational root 2 = a/b ( a & b are co-prime ) root 2b = a (squaring both sides ) (root2b)square = a square(2 is divisible by A square) 2b square = a square (2 is divisible by A) ----------------Equation 1 Let C be any Integer a = 2c (Squaring both sides ) a square = (2c)square Note--- A squre = 2b square From Equation---1 So, 2b square = (2c)Square 2b square = 4c Square Note :-- They get cancelled So, bsquare = 2c Square ( 2 is divisible by A square and A ) --------------------Equation 2 From Equation 1 & 2 [ 5 is a common factor of a & b ] a & b were co-prime Therefore, our assumption was incorrect. Hence Root 2 is an Irrational no. This is the easiest method.
