sabaton is a really good band and most of their songs are about war and combat so it might ne good. i would suggest songs like ghost division, gott min uns, resist and bite and midway. its probably not the best for listening to while writing but it is great for getting people pumped for stuff and motivated. i would suggest giving it a listen before writing combat.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Xenoblade Chronicles has some great music. I think "Confrontation with the Enemy" might be just the kind of song you're looking for. It has a somewhat calmer sound than its name would suggest, but clearly with the necessary "edge." And... Yikes! That IS dark! Not my kind of thing, but I can certainly tell that it's well written.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll have a look today :) I'm glad it comes across as dark as I wanted! I'm only planning on having moments that are that dark, rather than a constant sense of darkness :)

I find inspiration with Peter Schilling, but he uses lyrics. Hmmm, maybe Nox Arcana? The gripping snippet you read brings to mind a tearful image from a song from Loreena McKennitt - "The Highwayman".

Good stuff I am glad your in brighter spirits today and that you are happy with the progress you made. The bit of the story was a good one I will be looking forward to then cyrus dies lol he seems to be a bit of a D*%k. I hope its Aura who does it too and when she does she makes a call back to the words he used in this bit. Sleep well.
