Very happy to see you and welcome to my channel! I was in Ukraine in 2013 for Apimondia. I liked the city very much! So much history with Petro Prokopovych!

Suddenly, I understand why so many bee-keepers are selling their hives and giving up on the bees all together. Synthetic honey.

It is a major threat to our profession and business operation as beekeepers among others as discussed in my video. Thank you for watching! I do hope you will continue to keep bees!

so how do you determine what is real honey

There a handful of internet tests however many of these are not highly effective. These are homemade tests which include the water soluble test, the light on fire test for flammability and the nail test to name a few. The fraudsters are sophisticated in that they are now using rice syrup and other ingredients that may pass even certain lab tests. There are number lab tests that may be done however a fair number of them rely on databases that already exist which means that some real honey variants may be failed as they are not represented yet on the database. Pollen screening is a good test. It indicates the origin of the flora and can also indicate the location in many cases. However, this is often being overcome with ultra filtration claims which then allow for no pollen being present to profile in the test. NMR testing and TTR testing along with spectographic testing all are methods of testing. I also learnt recently about C4 Bond testing which apparently has to do with glucose presence.
