Joan was the inspiration of my wife Deborah to fight through overwhelming circumstance. She sings about truth and pain and her soul will touch you when she does.What a brave soul to stand up and have a voice. She is surrounded by a golden aura of love. Thank you Joan. We once met in Tucson and you made my wife Deborah so very very happy. Giving her the back stage honor of meeting Her before all the VIPs .from your show.❤️Forever your fan!

Well I must confess it is one of the best Baez interview I have seen on youtube. Finally someone who doesn't ask about Woodstock and Bob Dylan! I think she feels confident so she is more open about talking on her intimate life, her son, her feeling as a mother, as a woman, as a dark skinned woman in USA, and what I heard from her recently didn't change much. I guess she must feel a bit more discouraged nowadays, but not less "fighter" as you can hear when she sings her last song "Nasty Man"! I understand people who say they don't like her voice, her music even her politics, but she sounds so true, so rightful so soulful, you can't belittle her. She sounds she never gave up and never will. Thanks for posting this vid.

Very difficult to find words to discribe this rare, rare human being named Joan Baez. She keeps more than sixty years of a deeply coherent and loving journey , offering her immense talent and heart to , in her own words , give voice to the ones that don´t have one . Today on her 77 years of an inspirational and fruiiful life, the ORGANIZED LOVE remains the sacred label she honors , with unshakable commitment. Lucky us having her still among us.

I'm not sure why someone below called her an 'arrogant Narcissistic' except for misinterpreting her self-confidence? In any case, she strikes me as someone who is very very thoughtful and grounded. Mr. Day certainly tossed questions at her rapidly and you could see she was trying to finish answering one question while he went on to the next. Thx for posting!

I've always been in a quandary about this:. Joan Baez was already an established singer, she invited this unknown person to join her in concerts. She made his songs famous for YEARS. He was a good song writer but that was all he was. He warbled his voice with many artists but he could never sing. She promoted his songs with a voice that the world loved and respected. He would still be an unknown had she not supported his songs. Yet this person received the Nobel Peace Prize. There are thousands of song writers but it takes ONE beautiful voice to make the world aware. Joan Baez is deserving of all universal honors and awards.

Funny how she had to explain what Amnesty International was back in those days, not many people had herard of it yet. Such a great interview. Striking how consistent her views and thoughts are, as they've really changed very little in the Forty years since.
@apple6ification2 жыл бұрын
The song at the end written by the beautiful, courageous man and all of who she is and honors and fights for justice. Also, the interview style was very staccato and almost interruptive. She holds sway with grace and had a way of answering a deeper truth rather than the subtle sidetrack of questioning. 💜💜💜💜💜

You're trying desperately to rationalize your hatred of those who expose injustice because you prefer injustice to persist. In this interview Joan Baez is natural, unaffected, unassuming, and vulnerable. She's also talented, smart, and adorable.

Yes, today we are all shocked. But go back to the 60s & 70s, this was sadly acceptable. This is why Joan Baez was a non-violent protester and an activist. We have come a long way but we're not there yet. We need Saint Joan Baez to live many many more years!

I see your post was 8 years ago. I will hope you've learned more...a lot more... about Joan Baez since then...and significantly changed your opinion to the more accurate (positive) one her years as a pacifist and civil rights supporter deserve...in addition to her beautiful, .. I am 82 now, first learned of her, vividly, when she was a part of MLK's March for Jobs and Freedom in DC in August 1963. The young University of Chicago poli scie undergrad organized a busload to DC for the event and is another one who has remained true to his efforts for #AllofUs since then.
