Who remembers when you could buy a scanner and openly listen to the police comms? True story: I had one in the 90's, and we were standing outside a spar, trying to get someone to go in and buy us some alcohol, and there was an unmarked car trying to hide in the car park, with 4 plod in it, openly discussing the situation on the police radio. We eventually got one of our other mates to walk past, and we pretended to hand him money. He then went in to the shop and bought a bag full of space raiders, then he came out and handed it to us, and the police pounced on him once he got down the road a bit. You can imagine the hilarity that ensued?

A very telling and informative posting that AB. Above all I think it illustrates how things have changed from Ken’s time in the force compared to today. Ken was genuinely shocked when you explained you’d been mistreated and badly spoken to by a serving officer prior to your entry to the museum (jese he even locked you out). Despite this, they still wouldn’t let it go, clearly having spoken to Ken and then following you after your departure and trying to lecture you! I find it most distressing and disturbing that we seem to have a power crazed police force in the UK who appear to have little or no respect for the public and their rights (surely clearly illustrated by recent high profile events). I just don’t understand anymore what type of people we have serving in the police. Certainly not normal members of civilised society?

I like museums, but in fairness, I doubt I could ever bring myself to visit a Police museum though.

If they ever did a Police corruption museum it would take too long to walk round it.

@@pooooornopigeon You'd need a whole County for that.

I would have loved to hear some of Ken's stories, I bet he has seen some sights that thankfully most of us will never have to witness. Anyway AB, happy Friday to you, I am looking forward to watching you on the hilarious 'Stath Lets Flats' tonight (I know it's you) 😉🤫

They can challenge in a friendly way, like the guy at the end. No need for hostility. A museum open to the public and a guy with a camera, what a surprise. They need to re-site the museum. Its like having one room only open to the public, in the middle of MI5, or like encouraging American tourists to come, then barring the wearing white ankle socks, sandals, brimmed hats, Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian shirts and cameras with a neck strap! Ken was a joy and likely worked in SOCO long before DNA usage commenced in the 80s. He would have some stories to tell.

Even Ken was influenced by reception to ask him to not film outside and to find out if he's having a car :)

They have been working for too long in one place. They are starting to think that their workplace is their home. That's why that stupid question comes up you're filming 😂😂😂
