Great video, Julie! I’m so proud of all you are doing to continue to pursue your dreams! I’m glad you explained why you are taking lessons!! There is so much to learn on our instrument, I was continually learning new things well into my doctorate degree ❤

I am.a clarinetist who played in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. I learned (later than I wish I had!) that practicing a fast articulation spot slowly with very long notes, deliberately removing your tongue from the reed to begin each note and snapping your fingers from one position to the next works very well. You have to build it up over a period of time. After a couple of weeks you should be starting to get the idea. It will get better and better. This reverses the Bonade system, but I think it works much better because you are practicing doing what your tongue and fingers need to do when you go fast, and with the Bonade system you are not. The long notes of course stop being long when you go fast and the whole thing will sound right.
