Walking is great...for just a substitute for me now. It used to be running or cycling, but now mostly walking. I guess I was lucky to arrive in November, just the right time. I prefer to walk super early though, like 5-to-6am. JLT seems perfect for that, you can just wonder around without any cars, which is great.

Yeah, it's safe. Lady do your own homework! 😄 - What I mean is, check the news (there are a few Dubai/UAE news sites). I bet you don't find any shootings/muggins/stealings...hey, even swearing in public is not allowed. There are ladies taxi's and a ladies/children's carriage on the Metro. Stay in a nice/nice-ish area/apartment though.

@@nicolescreativeworld OK, so it really depends on your budget. Staying near to where your internship is a good option, so if you know where the co. is it would help. In Dubai they have clusters of things, like the area called Tecom (telecommunications companies), Media City, Sports City, etc etc. Places like JLT are nice, because there are loads of restaurants/shops around the 26 clusters (usually 3 apartment buildings to a cluster) alphabetically named, so you can walk to get shops. Lot's of families live there too, and not too expensive. Marina is very tourist orientated, as is DownTown - so more expensive. Don't live in Deira because that's where many workers live, and the trains are packed in the mornings 😕

From the government website- in Ramadan, non-Muslims are prohibited from eating, drinking and smoking in public during the fasting hours. This includes chewing gum. Additionally, ensure that you do not: engage in any aggressive behaviour.

You can but be discrete. Even many restaurants are open. You are safe inside. I guess if you walk outside and have a sandwich in front of muslims they may not be super happy.

Huh...well you can't have it all! Yoghurt...what exactly did you eat? I can't remember ever eating yogurt. What is nice though, is Qishtah. It's in the supermarket daily, I guess it's called breakfast cream. Amazing stuff, especially with dates.
