Glad to see another video from you! I've been wondering how things were going - this is my third year in Kinder (I moved down from 2nd) and it was definitely an adjustment! Also, I stick a plastic student supply box underneath my laminator to hold that part up. Clearly it's a design flaw, as I don't think mine ever really stayed up!

I always enjoy your vlogs. You are so positive and happy! Our school uses IXL as well. We do the diagnostic test so that it assigns the students on the skills they need to work on. It's been over 6 years sine I've taught kindergarten, so I remember all the planning and center making. Unfortunately, I don't get to do all those cute centers due to having 2 classes and just not enough time. Over Thanksgiving break, I'm going to try and figure out a way to incorporate them. It looks like Friday might be the only day that I can get stations/centers in. We shall see.

I love IXL. My kids take the MAP (NWEA) test. You can put their individual scores in, based off the test and it creates a skill plan for each student. I like that because it differentiates for each child. Has made a huge difference for my students through the years. Can’t suggest IXL enough! I teach 4th grade but assume you can do this for K as well.

Hi Lauren! Happy to see you are doing well and been enjoying finding your groove. The beg of the year is rough for all us teachers and Kinder is no joke. I was looking for the link for the Natalie Lynn stuff you were referring to, I found her on TpT but there’s so much there I don’t even know where to begin, interested in the differentiated center activities you mentioned.

Not sure if it’s the same laminator, but my tray goes one “step” higher. Mine looks like it comes out of the machine at a 45 degree angle instead of a 90 degree. Try looking down at the tray from the top and there should be some tracks on each side that allow you to lock it one step higher. And that’s the most I’ve ever written about a laminator in my entire career. 😆

I was surprised by the jolly phonics. But I kind of see why. The rest of the alphabet is low utility? Not as commonly used. So if you go to vowel teams then they can read actual words faster. Interesting…hopefully by that point the rest of the alphabet could probably be taught really quickly. Interesting…….
