Most likely air came in from the missing O-ring, so hopefully your issues with it is now fixed! Also yeah better to just change the impeller regularly even if the old one looks good as having it to break can be huge pain in the ass if parts of it gets stuck inside the motor. Happened to friend of mine when he changed it only every other season if it looked good and that practice got tossed away fast after that.

Missing o-ring and definitely the stripped out thread on the fuel line, it would hold a good seal
